If I remember correctly Jeff Simon posted a while ago that they were running 350hp with stock clutching...

WHAT? Uhhh that wont work.
Biggest shot on stock clutching is probably a 40 and that will push it. You may bounce the rev limiter with that.
FYI on my 80hp shot I gain 1100 rpms. I run mine at 10000 off bottle and 11,100 on the bottle.

for trail riding...if you clutch it for 10,200-10,400 or so....you wont even notice the sled is "underlclutched".....it will be fine for trails..then you use the bottle for proper revving on lakes ect..
we might have something coming from ALLEN ,a controller that can change our rev limiter and take away timing for us...this could be the answer to our "underclutched" apexs...we will see.

See i dont want to add a clutch kit.. I want to plug and play..
Ive heard somewhere that you can run up to 40hp on stock clutching..
I would really just like a 30hp shot, but im currious how much top end i will see on snow..

I meant stock clutches... Yes, they should be retuned for specific shot...

With a 40 hp NX on an Apex mountain It's got the heaviest rivets and sea level spring and it will still hit the limiter on occation running at about 10000 ft elevation. It runs about 95K in the deep snow and as soon as I hit the N2O it revs to 11K and shifts out to about 10800 You should be fine with a 30HP shot.
Acording to the dyno charts I've looked at the Apex HP curve is flat from 8500 and up so you can overclutch it quite a bit and run a bigger shot without loosing too much.
Remember if your not clutching for the N2O then you ARE NOT getting the HP.

On 40 HP on my RTX, I ran 129 on the NOS (speedometer) and 114 off the NOS (speedometer) on loosely packed snow with stock clutching. I did this on a long snow packed lake. I ran it up to 129 mph while on the juice. Then, I let off the button and held the throttle wide open....watched my speedo drop to 114 and hold at 114. My speedo seems to be about 10% off according to my GPS.
You may not hit the rev limiter with stock clutching on soft pack of snow...but you will hit it on a fast surface such as ice or hardpack snow. Clutch kit is pretty cheap and pretty adjustable. I have mine running at about 10,400 off the NOS. I still occassionally hit the limiter with my 50HP shot. I'm going to add a little more tip weight next season. (and maybe another 30-50 HP of nos ...lol)

welter racer you could install a primary spring with less total force where it's about 10,200 off the bottle and you will be fine.

i run boss noss and i run a 60hp shot with a bigger solenoid that flows more spray than the stock one and i run 11,100 on the button but i also weigh about 280lbs so im sure that has something to do with getting that close to the limiter.

We are running a RX-1 03 stock clutch with 140 shot for a total of 285hp. This year we are going to a180hp shot still on the stock clutch.

I think he means clutch weights, without having to change them.
