Just got back from riding my RTX SE almost 250 miles since Thursday. Great riding with a few minor issues with the sled. Got to take the hood off 3 times and look at all the fuse. Hint, if your display goes out you tail light is probably out as well.

Anyway the first few days we were just about the only sleds out there and they trails were about 8 inches of fluff. The sled handled ok, but you had to be careful not to just float right through the curves in the powder. Also, you didn't want to hit the throttle at all in the corner or the skis would completely unload. By Saturday the groomers were out and the trails were firming up then I started getting some darting. It was manageable, not the kind were you feel like your sled it trying to kill you.

So I am thinking I need better carbides and maybe a little less transfer. My front shocks I had at 75 pounds.

Motor is awesome, check your bolts though, my riser had 2 that were almost finger loose.

I put on 295 miles yesterday in groomed trails I would consider as close to perfect conditions as possible. There were 3, 2012 XRS 800, 1, 2014 xrs 800, 1, 2010 renegade 800, a stock RTX Viper and me on a LTX SE.

I have 96 studs, C&A RZ with 9" shapers, transfer blocks set to give the most transfer, triangle blocks set to lightest, took out 2 turns of preload from arrival setting, and have 70lbs in front float 3s. Let me say at this point it is on rails like nothing ive ever experienced. On my Doo 800 last year it was all I could do to keep with the 2 top riders in our group and now it is effortless. I swapped with the RTX rider (he is complete stock) and i couldnt ride his half as hard. As usual all sleds need setup but the Vipers really seem to work well.

I took the approach that they have some extra front weight so I tried to get as much to transfer for traction to the rear and then have very good ski / carbides up front so I dont need alot of ski pressure to still get it to turn. I am 165lbs.

Oh yea, all Doos except the renegade bent their S module when we all clipped the same rock. Many pissed off people and after sled swapping 2 Doo riders want a Viper. One is going to dealer tomorrow, lol.

Superfletch,

Are those transfer blocks set on a clicker system so we know the exact angle?

Thanks! I appreciate the input.

Shane

Transfer blocks have 3 positions. Two ones and 2,3. The sleds come with blocks on one and limiter all the way out. I put my blocks on two and seems good. To set the blocks just loosen the bolts turn whole shaft with both on to about where it should be then push down on bumper or better put a log or something under rear of track. Get scissor against the blocks then tighten the bolts.

Thanks cannondale

Clay County trails I presume? How were they?

No we went from Nevis to almost Grand Rapids MN and a bit of Paul Bunyan trail. PB was great all others were good also.

Cool. Wish I could ride man I'd love to tag along sometime. Maybe next year. Glad you're liking the Viper!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Fletch, I am probably riding like the stock RTX you rode at this point. I think I will set my transfer to 2 and find some better carbides for a start. Maybe the cat staggered carbides? Then go from there.

The best thing though is that after a whole weekend of riding my back feels fine just some sore muscles in my shoulders cause its my first real ride of the season. Fun sled. My old SXR sure did look sad when I left it behind. :)

it appeared to me that the transfer blocks came set in the "most" transfer position. Is that correct ?
