I love the FX NYTRO MTX. Perfect sled for me. But, I need to keep my 07 RMK at least one more season, of course I could trade my Renegade in on the Nytro MTX, hmmm, I wonder if the wifey would like that? LOL.

I don't really like this years line up. I have been loyal owning over a dozen yamis and one rev for one year. I guess I was expecting the nitro chassis in a trail sled as well.... that is lighter than an Apex. The colors suck compared to past years but that is minor. The prices are out of this world. I'll have to compare that to the other guys, maybe that is the economy we are in.
I just did not get excited with the line up this year, I may even miss the show for the first time in many years....My wife will be proud!!!

I have a 2006 Apex GT and my son has a 2007 Apex RTX. The new line up doesn't make our sleds look old and outdated, so we're glad to keep the sleds that we have. I would have been upset if they made a brand new Apex that would have mine look outdated. I guess we're good for another year.

I have no issues with the sleds that Yamaha brought to the market this year, but I do have an issue with their strategy.
Can anyone give me 5 reasons why they would purchase an 08 Apex RTX?
Lets say you are Joe Consumer who was interested in getting a 07 Vector but decided you'd wait to see what Yamaha would do in 08. So now we've got a new and improved Vector which you will only buy if you're in love with the 3cyl 120 motor. For $500-$1500 more you can "upgrade" to an Apex. Most people could swing this price increase unless they saved to buy with cash. How many people do you think will buy an 08 Apex that is no different than a 06 or 07 Apex which you can buy for about 3 grand less with zero miles if look hard enough?
I would've liked to see something like this for base models:
Phazer $6500
Vector $8500
Apex / Nytro $10500
It also wouldn't have killed Yamaha to build a single seat Venture in the Deltabox Chassis. There are people out there that have a touring mindset but don't care to ride double on the sled. In my opinion it's a very very big mistake for Yamaha to neglect this segment of the market. It may not be the biggest or most profitable in the short term but your typical touring/cruiser is an older person who has gotten speed out of their system, wants more comfort, and they usually have deeper pockets than the 21 year old who wants a race track replica.

First of all, great post, Yamanator. As one of the complainers, I now feel bad. I still don't like how the Apexes gained weight, but everything else really is impressive.
Red, I don't understand what you are saying. You were expecting the nitro chassis in a trail sled lighter than an Apex? It is....I don't follow what you mean. Secondly, I don't like the prices for the Apex, but they are out of this world for ALL sleds. Inflation, cost of superior engineering, smaller amount of product to sell (what is the ww sled market, 160k a year and dropping?). Last - noone pays retail, and waiting a year will probably save you several k.
The Doo is an awesome machine, and if I trusted them half as much as Blue, I would def be going for a test run at some point. But I don't, and that thing is not going to be less than 10k either (does anyone know what it does cost?). Ride what you like, but there is ALWAYS more to consider than just p-t-w ratio.

The nitro isn't a trail sled, it's a ditch banger with a stiff suspension set up. I would have liked to see a light weight GT version, maybe with the mono under it.
I'm just saying the presentation to the market was very underwhelming to me. Especially in lite of what BRP offered. Like others have indicated, you could take a Yami model and mod it into what you want or you can buy the competitions sled set up the way you envisioned. With the pricing offered, I am no longer happy dumping $$$$ into my new investment as I have too many times before.
Just my opinion as I am entitled to it.

i also feel bad for being a price complainer, looking into it a little more the nytro took some serious r and d and its a very expensive process and its also true i wouldnt be paying msrp. i do think yamaha has a very serious lineup and none of the big 4 can go completely ballz out on a new lineup its just not economical, they build what will sell and what is proven. they are on a 3 year trip and next year the apex will be something different. I do REALLY think they have done a great job since buying new from 1997 to now, look how far they have come before people were like yamaha who?? now they are a very serious contender.

That's not a bad sled if you're in the market for a touring sled. Still though, I'd have liked to see them keep a sled in the Deltabox I chassis for those who don't want the rider forward and would like the wind protection the "old" Vector's provided. The only expense from Yamaha's end would be to continue the production, there should be little or no R&D expense.

Never said you weren't entitled. Ride what you like.
Don't agree on the Nytro, I think that would be a blast on the trails.
I don't think anyone can compete with what Doo offered, at least on paper. But I will say it again - I am leery of the Ski-Doo's reliability. Unless there are hundreds of people paid by the other OEM's to post lies on the net about Doo, I see far far too many horror stories about their sleds. I don't care if it is 50 lbs and levitates...if it is going to leave me stranded, I don't want it. Seasons are FAR too short.
If you are not worried, and the Doo is what you want, go for it. I really hope that they have fixed the engine problems and that you get your money's worth. If that sled was rock-solid, I'd def consider one as well.

too bad they didn't come out with the 08 venture in FI instead of keeping them carbed, i was looking forward and waiting from the advice of a dealer that yamaha was coming out with FI for the venture in 08, so now i have a decision to make, wait and buy an 08 or look for a good deal on an 07

Since I've had an 06 and 07 Attak the 08 is ZERO improvement. If these sleds we're perfect I could understand it. But, there is a list of potential improvements a mile long. IMHO Yamaha could have given us something. The good news for Yamaha is that the competion sucks so bad it won't hurt them. In fact, the production cutbacks I heard about at the show are huge! Perhaps this annoucement will help them sell 07's Good year to rest on their laurals. PS ,some of us aren't interested in the Phaser or its derivatives.

From my point of view two sledds are missing in the lineup.
1. A Phazer RTX with a 136" with 1,5" lugs.
2. A FX Nytro RTX with a 144" with 1,5" lugs.
That is something that us flatlanders is missing, and since I'm not interested in building one my self instead of riding.
So rigth now it looks like I'm going with the LYNX X-TRIM 600SDI

more competive pricing or more color options.the grey belly pans, just dont work for me.otherwise i like all the models,i just think at the price the have tagged on them, they should offer more color options, hood, seat, belly pans..... i can come up with something for graphics to personize my sled. but at the price that is almost the cost of a harley, the options should be offered. It is merely adding dye to the polymer to make the hood and belly pans a different color.....

Well said , in Ontario where we usually ride 4000-5000 miles a year !!! , considering most of have less than 300 on this year for lack of snow , It is amazing any factory would do anything new at all !
Most of us trade every year , but not this year for sure !!!
