My 2016 apex acme with a 129 2.86 pitch single ply track. I studded it with the larger headed studs and backers. Well it destroyed itself in 2 seasons, 5 pull outs at once on my last ride. Pure garbage track.
I replaced the track with a 2 ply and I am going to stud again.
Would I need the larger headed stud and backers for the 2 ply in the wider 2.86 pitch?
I don't know if the larger heads are needed for 2 ply with 2.86 or not.

Not true
Hmmmm? I studded two sleds with single ply tracks. Had over 10,000miles on them. No pull outs?

Most stud manufacturers make single ply studs.

Ski Doo single ply 2.86 are marked for 96 studs. My Doo friends who studded their single ply's this way, even Turbo powered had no pullouts in several sleds and thousands of miles. Other Doo guys who studded with 144 to 192 destroyed the tracks in a year.
We have studded 2.86 Turbo 137's with regular head studs, 144 to 192, 1.575 Megabytes with machined washers and have had no pullouts.
That said my dealer uses Grandmasters on 2 plys as he figures there is even less chance of pullouts.

In the last 15 years I have put all most 50000 miles on my sleds and have had track pull outs and have had tracks break the fiberglass rods before. None have completely exploded. But this is the first single ply and have never had a track come apart this way. large square hole pull outs and two pull outs that pulled the meat out of the next lug back and then continued to pull the outer layer of rubber with the stud like a ribbon and beat rather large dents in both coolers, before flying off..
Still single ply tracks are for little sleds with no speed or need to stud.

Yep, turns the track into a whip. With the stud as a demolition sickle. Doesn't go very well for heat exchangers. As least you caught it b4 something bad happened.

When I was buying a track for my Nytro a couple of years ago, the distributor that I was shopping at told me that single ply tracks couldn't handle the horsepower. That was without studs. I'm definitely not trying to start an argument, but that's what Royal Distributing told me.

Yeah, don't think you can use "single ply" & the word "durability" in the same sentence. Lol.

But, I make a bet there's over a million trouble free miles on camso single ply tracks.

I am not saying single ply tracks maybe the best track to stud but there are so many variables that cause pull outs .... under studding, too long of a stud for track lug height and installation procedure, along with what your riding conditions are (poor snow , rocky ground ect) along with poor throttle control on hard surfaces such as road crossings and parking lots. I have had mostly 2 ply tracks over the years properly studded and 10s of thousands of miles and not 1 pull out. Just my opinion but I have never used nothing but woodys or stud boy products either....? They make studs as mentioned just for 1 ply tracks but with any studded track there is risk shall we say on how well the choices are made in the process!

I know Doo uses single ply tracks on their sleds and they also sell kits. For studding their sleds with single ply tracks.
You can always go that way if you wanted.

Camso rep told me this summer they are going to stop making 1 ply tracks for resale......
