The variability is in the rider. If you got someone hammering through the moguals all the time and has the suspension for it the shaft will be lucky to make 8000 miles. If you got a easy trail rider that doesn't accel or decel very fast most of the time I think they can last 15-18,000 miles. The avg rider with a little of both gets about 10-12K on them. Myself I went with the MB heavy duty shaft on my SC sled and there have been times when I winced (landing on a jump and the engine at full boost) when the sled is taking off like a rocket and with my long track the traction is un real.

I wish I had changed mine out when I did my track swap at the beginning of the season. Now I have 8600 hard miles and I am worried. If I change it I will put in the heavy duty aftermarket shaft from Ulmer.
