I bought the best battery they had at a battery shop called Battery Wholesale (chain store). Sealed Gel battery less than $80.

do you have a part number for that ?

According to my owners manual, my Attak takes a "YTX14-BS" battery. I assume most of the Yammi's use the same type?
Yea i was wondering about the gel cell

I say if you have doubt, replace it. seeing as we do not have recoil start on our sleds, it could leave you stranded if you dont have jumpers, and a butty with a sled that also has a battery.

You can wrap a strap around the primary but ya better make dam sure it clears if it fires
;)!

It is a DEKA Battery # EXT14. I think it is a better battery then the stock one, I googled it and saw prices in the $60's.

junkey, have you really started one of these off the clutch?! or seen it done? if so that is good to know it can be done. i'm sure its a hard pull and you would need a hell of a rope huh? i bet there is no way it could be done cold though.

My buddy did his apex last year in Preston Idaho when he had starter problems and said it was a hell of a pull but started. there is a video of a phazer being done on youtube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E3bUASfVCA

Best to use a strap, falter to wrap around and more grabbing area

cool, thanks for the vid. I guess this is the same idea as popping the clutch on a manual transition car. I got to try this one day so i know if i can do it.

I know batteries can last a long time under proper care but I replace mine every 3 to 4 years. 75 bucks is a small investment to make sure I am always starting. Never been jumped ;)!

I can speak from experience that if you have an 06 attak and leave the key on for a week or so the battery will be stone cold dead. When I jump started it the sled started up fine but when I disconnect the jumper cables the sled dies instantly. My advice is to replace the battery and save yourself the trouble of trying to find a replacement when your sled wont start and you are on a trip somewhere.

WAK

my battery is geting weak on my 06 er. when have you guys had to replace them? it looks like there is alot of stuff in the way to change it?

When do you replace the battery??? As soon as it STARTS to get weak.. A battery thats weak in your yard will definately wait until you are out on a ride, back in the woods on a cold late night and it will fail and not start your sled.. The second mine starts to show signs of weakness I replace it. Because I know the time Im stuck somewhere with a dead battery I'll regret not replacing it...

I've never tried it, I don't think I would like to either. sounds kinda like having a ride running with the doors open for a quick ER visit. record it and win 10 grand!

Well when there is no possible way to get the sled out unless its by winch line or chopper strange things happen ha ha There are a lot of places here you just don't tow out of

I'm on my 3rd battery already. These gel battery's just don't last. Lead acid last forever compared to these things. If it seems weak now it won't get any better later on. Replace it and sleep at night. ;)!

yeah ive done it on a 2 stroke. but these are whole different animals. i keep jumpers just in case. nut I agree if it feels weak, drop the coin and replace. P.O.M. is woth a lot to me!
