I'm looking at adding boost to my sled over the summer....debating about which is best for me.
I've got a 2007 Vector Mountain SE
I ride steep and deep, sea-level to 2800ft...
Which is going to be the best?

Depends on what you want to do with it, really.
I am going with the Supercharger because when talking power levels such as 200-240hp, turbo and superchargers are really equal in most cases. A turbo can make more power in the end, but for moderate power gains they both are about equal.
The super of course has instant boost, very quick throtte response which i do like. Turbo has a little lag, but is very minimal. I like the instant boost and ease of install/tuning a supercharger, even though im not the one installing it....

Yeah - I like the idea of a SC because of ease of installation - Only thing that concerns me is power loss when going from say 1800-2800 on a climb...Dont know if thats an issue or not...

Ive seen a few turbo vectors and i say go with a alpine front mount kit . They work like crazy and when you get bored of 200 hp and belive me you will you can alwys crank it up

Why not just go with a SIMON's CPR Turbo kit? They seem like they are the better turbo (heat is managed)
Are there advantages to the Powderlite kit over the CPR kit?

The only reason i said powder lite is because they are close to me and they are mountain designed.

With the vector te underhood heat doesnt seem to be as big of a problem with the vector.

Going from sea level to 2800 isnt too bad. I ride starting at 9000ft and go up to about 13,000. I have seen a blower run at 12,000ft and it was nothing short of awesome.
For a turbo i would recommend Alpine or MCXpress. MCX is top shelf and is the best you can get. Though its a rear mount, it runs good. Alpine (powderlites) always gets nothing but good reviews. Front mount with VERY quick spool time.

Does MPI have a Stage II kit for a Vector?
4strokes are better than2

yes mpi has a stage 2 sc kit for the vec around 240hp i beleave.there is not much diff between alpine kit or cpr kit mostly just where intake is located.both work great both good guys to deal with.pick the one closest to you.under hood heat isnt a major issue if you dont mind making a couple mods on your hood for better air flow.my alpine kit has been flawless just dont be cheap on good gas & you wont have a problem.i run 14-15 pounds boost all day long & love it.

So, I've decided on an MPI Stage II mainly because it seems that they are very reliable - plus after having a supercharged car I'm somewhat familiar with them

What kind of riding do you plan on doing most of the time? If you are into big climbs, forget the SC as it simply can't hang with a turbo.
If most of your riding is boondocking and you are comfortable with s/c's then it would be a good fit. I personally would never buy another MPI SC after my experience.

Nice to be able to have that 'TOUGH" of a decission to have to make
I believe that requires a few questions to be asked 1st.
* If you want just HP / Boost; What type of fuel are you going to be using?
* The Turbo's will always give you more HP at Various boost settings, with the ability to flip a switch from Low to High. The SC's will not.
* The SC is a way easier and quicker install, with a little less maintaince.
* The SC does not have to have exhaust mods, smaller gas tanks, heat issues [on some models]
* They seem to be both in the same price range, It's a tough call as both do offer good things. I like the SC for the type of riding we do, for you it sounds like the Turbo might be best suited for your riding.
Good Luck with your choices, either way I hope you will be happy with what you go with...BOOST ROCKS
