Who owns a Compact Tractor ?

So I figured a few things out about plowing snow ! For 3/4” the bucket works fine . For 15/17” and drifting not so good .

My driveway at the cabin is about a 1/3 of a mile long and still longer if you include around the garages . I know Mr Sled has that massive snowblower and that would probably be my best bet . If someone has plans for mounting a used plow to the front please share . If you have other ways to move snow like a pusher blade please let me know how it works .

Does your tractor have hydraulic lines and selective control valve for angling a blade?
I assume that your loader uses skid steer quick attach.
That piece is readily available and could possibly be attached to a used blade by a good welder/fabricator

I have a third function for a grapple on the front but no external ports in the rear . I plan on adding them in the future.

I have a plow on the 4 wheeler but it takes to long to do the driveway because with the blade angled you can only take about a 1 foot cut at a time if it’s deep . I was hoping to find a bigger blade that manually adjust for the angles and weld a quick attach plate to the Frame . I’m going to have to start some research!

see if you can find a/or the equvilent to a snow bear snow plow. i have see guys just make it so that is slips onto the lower edge of the bucket with angles welded inside the bucket to keep it straight on/in bucket. they usually only drop it when they need to re stack the bank with the bucket.

This is what I’m looking for . I look them up and seems to be almost exactly what I have on the 4 wheeler but bigger. Thanks for the tip ! All I would have to do is mount a heavy duty 2” receiver onto the buck .

as with anything it boils down to time/budget formula. it looks like you got a 3 cylinder Kubota...nice piece if equipment. you can find a used snow blower for the front or rear of the tractor by using the PTO. If its not in your budget for a blower then you got to have time to use the loading bucket and make plenty of passes to clear the snow out and make the job look decent. I use just my loading bucket, I got the time and a much shorter distance to remove snow. Personally I like the loader because once the snow get too deep I can use the loader to move it where ever I want and I got the time. Ideally, I would use a blower but they are not perfect either. Bottom line, don't break the bank on equipment when you already have the tools to move snow...but if I were you I'd invest in a heated cabin for your tractor...they are awesome. Joe

Does the ATV have a tough time pushing heavier snow when starting in the center of driveway and when adding a blade full of snow to the rest it’s just too much ?

In 5 inches of snow or less I angle the plow and make a path up the center of the driveway. Then I take about a 1 foot cut and keep pushing the snow back on each side .
This works good but the one side of the driveway is on a field and we get drifts over 2 ft deep . This is when it takes me hours with the 4 wheeler. The tractor has no problem pushing the snow but the bucket fills up fast and it’s not any faster then the 4 wheeler.
I would like a plow truck but I just bought a new truck and the tractor so the wife says figure another cheaper way . I think the receiver style plows are just what I’m looking for . I’m searching now for a quick attach plate with a receiver welded to it . That would make it very easy to hook it up and remove . I’m still leaving the option of a blower open but just trying to keep it around 2k . I don’t have good pictures of the driveway but this will give you an idea of about 2/3 of it .

Picture of me driving in with 16” of snow . Kind of gives you an idea . The 4 wheeler had no chance being this deep .

ya
16” is a lot for an ATV

For more manageable amounts throw out the usual start in the middle of your driveway

Think outside the box
First get rid of the snow on outer edges and then go back to the center and you will be surprised how much it helps
If the snow is deep enough adding 1 blade width to the rest can just be too much
I have a Honda Pioneer 1000 with 6’ Western hydraulic plow

20” snowfall required me to plow outer edges of driveway first cause adding 1 blade full to the next would have been too much for me to push

Our driveway is 1/4 mile long with additional cleanup around the garages and the house so I have a lot of area to clear snow from. This year we have a couple feet+ of snow on the ground that is great for sledding but keeps the tractor busy.
The way I do the main drive is by pushing snow from the sides to the center of the drive with the blade angled to move the snow to the center. I end up with a big snow bank right in the middle of the road. I then back the tractor down the road and eat up the center bank with the blower. This way most of the snow is moved into the bush and I don't end up with big banks on each side.

That’s perfect

And no snow banks for drifting

I tried using my New to me 2001 JD 790 with bucket for moving snow but quickly decided my old JD 420 -garden tractor with 22 HP ONAN-with cab and 47 two stage JD blower was the comfortable efficient way to go.

Sorry not sure how to rotate pic file
