Why are we so content with the gas mileage on the Apex's

I think the difference in fill up wont be a buck or two with the way gas prices are getting to, but more like 6 to 10. Anyways I ran out on my last ride at 120 miles on a 500 mile day. I made it to the station but it had closed. Even if I got 16 mpg I would have made it to the next one.

My buddy has a 98 SRX 700 that gets slightly better mileage then my Apex ER. I'm not surprised due to the fact that I have a larger engine that pulls more RPM's and I ride mine like a maniac. Maybe a little tweaking of the fuel mapping for the EFI will help when I get a Power Commander. If it doesn’t.....well not I’m not going to loose any sleep over it. My opinion....it is what it is.

fuel mileage

Hell, we all want a sled to get 200mpg, goes 200 mph, and costs $200.00
Pipe deam, performance costs, botom line. If you don't like getting 14 mpg? you must not be old enough to remember the 70's Yammi's at 6 mpg with a 6 gallon tank?
633 gpx? or 638, been along time ago. 433 gpx 11 mpg and these sles were slowwwwwwwwwwww by todays standards. I'm so happy with my RTX at 14 or 15 that if I got 10 I would not bitch, hell my last sled did get 10. :-o

RTX DUDE I started sledding over 22 years ago. I 12 on my last run. Its pretty disappointing when you buy a $9,000 dollar sled when the efficency drops from a 03 when Yamaha advertized the opposite stating INCREASED EFFICENCY. and no I dont want a 200 mph sled that cost $200.00. Some poeple are actually getting 18 to 20 mpg on the 06 Apex line. O yea, I hate to admit it but I started on a 72 puma

Milage Smilage; Why don't they put in a larger fuel tank.
I get about the same smilage whether crusin or runin and gunin, maybe a little better during the latter due to the adrenaline factor.

The smilage isn't so good off-trail but my dealer told me that GT = Groomed Trail so I'm good with that. LaLaLa

Since you brought it up Apex 21, I remember getting great smilage from a 73 Cheetah, I'll bet that Puma did pretty good in the smilage department as well. ;)!

I'm dissed with the mpg on my apex too. I ran out last year while riding with my buddy on a pro-x7(bigger tank) and he had enough to go another dozen miles or so to gas. 11~12 was all I ever got.
Unacceptable imo. 16 would be fine.

i dont whine about my mileage, but what kills me is all these guys getting 16 to 18 mpg on their apexes and all ive gotten was 11 to 12 mpg, i do ride hard on the throttle all the time but i know alot of these other guys do too, now if everyone else was claiming 11 to 12 mpg ide be fine with it, but since alot of guys are getting better mileage it makes me think somethings wrong with mine

I know how you feel IRONVIPER..

Its like how everyone sees dreammeter speeds of over 130mph on there sleds and i cant get over 109 on the trail.. but i do get 14-16mpg..LOL

And I know how you feel welterracer. The best top I have seen is 108. Of course this is at about 2.5k elevation up at coleman. So, I guess mine is a gas sucking slow turd, compared to these guys getting 130 mph and 18 mpg. Either there are exaggerations happening, or there are some serious differences between identical apex's......

I get between 14 and 17 consistantly.my 03 rx would get 16 to 18 which is pretty close and i will take my rtx over my 03 any day the response and ride are night and day diference. top speed on the dream meter 118 with the nos 138.

I've heard before that imaginary sleds only get 11-12 mpg. Guess that myth is true! I see you're still here. Contracted any more imaginary issues for the sled? :tg:

On the reality side of things. I got better mileage with my RX. I get about 14-16 with my Attak and that's really pushing the sled. If you are out for a cruise I could see people getting 15-18.

Personally I'm happy with the mileage, obviously would always like better but it is a high performance machine with 150 horses. Still very impressive. Especially when you consider theres no oil usage. People always seem to forget that when they compare two stroke mileage to four stroke.

On most big trips I got over 15 mpg which I am happy with at least until I compare it with my brother in laws RS Rage which got 20+mpg on the same 120 mile trips.Still I am very happy considering the power this thing has.
