I wouldn't complain! Us mountain guys are only getting about 6mpg in the steep and deep! My rx-1 was alot better on fuel.

I do think there are some differences in the FI among same models. That would explain why some of us are beating sleds that others are not.
How many guys with poorer mileage and low top end had the starting stumble or the heavy gas smell or flamethrower?
I got 14-17 mpg and recorded 109 on GPS riding a groomed trail without trying for top end. I'm pretty happy with that but I'd love to get 20 mpg.

Disapointing here as well. I have to keep a closer eye on the fuel gage of the Attak than I did on the RX. It's noticable enough to complain IMO. I could run 130-140 miles on the RX and know I could go another 20 to a filling station.

fuel mileage
My bud's 800X gets about 1 gal. to 120 miles less than me and on premium. Lighter sled and smog buggy. noisy and vibrates like hell. just another aspect of the mileage game.
it could be better/ you bet, but could be worse. and for smileage? I'm all smiles with my Yammi.

I have the poor mpg, less impressive top end, and throttle spike stumble, and heavy fumes at idle. I also noticed a puff of blue smoke after a let off from a hard pull. This was while I was following my bud who tried it. I dont think yam dealer around here is competent enough to diagnose anything other than a compete failure situation.actionjack said:I do think there are some differences in the FI among same models. Boys, boys, boys(and girls too)
I ride an 87 exciter so please stop the complaining about your 18-20 or your 16-18 mpg. If I push the sled hard I get like 1mpg(obviously overstatement) but you get the point.
Just messing around, I would want more to if I spent the kind of coin you all did on your sleds. I can not imagine there is not a tweak in the works for the 07's(and a possible fix for the 06's). Not to mention when our sleds continue to get lighter they will increase mpg as well so look forward to that little bonus in the future.

What is the highest speed you have seen on your dremmeter, and have you raced and comparable sleds?
What are you getting for MPG?
Maybe you have low compression on one cylinder or a bad sparkplug etc..

Welter, I get about 11~12. I ran out one day at 115~120 miles. I forgot exactly, but it was bad. The 700 pro-x I rode with had enough to go another dozen or so miles to gas. I follwed one of my buds on a good running 04' xc7sp across big diamond(about a mile) and was unable to gain on him. It seems to just stop at 107/8ish(indicated). I do have dually's which takes some top end out but was dissed after hearing claims of 120+ indicated..I weight about 250 suited. I thought about a bad plug but it does run good other than the stumble when you spike the throttle at low r's.

It is very normal to get 14mpg, and i always look for a gas station after 60+ miles.
The weird thing is the fact that you buddys with their older 2 strokes can go soo far on gas..
I rode with two guys who have XC600s and they were very hard on gas, usually 10mpg, and i would be at half tank and they would be on E..
even the zr800 and zr900 in our group need gas way before i do..
Maybe your throttlebodys are out of sinc... I know NOSPRO knows how to recalibrate them..

Hmmmmm, some of you guys got me wondering how my 06 RTX with zero miles will do. Is it a good one or a bad one

Re: Boys, boys, boys(and girls too)
Something seriously wrong with your '87 if its getting that bad of mileage. Mine gets at least 15+. They're real easy on gas for a 2-stroke - hardly any weight to push around. I would suggest looking at the clutching - they're REAL sensitive to that, and the stock clutches really like to lug the engine. If you're running stock clutches, I would suggest sticking a 3/8" shim behind the spring on the primary, and running the secondary at 50-60 deg. If you can get that engine to immediately wind out to 7500 rpm, it should walk all over a vmax700. I know mine does.yamahaex50 said:I ride an 87 exciter so please stop the complaining about your 18-20 or your 16-18 mpg. no complaints here. my attak gets 14-16 mpg beating on it. heck, my 03 pro x 700 with a tempaflow, jetted down, and clutched gets 11 mpg at best! besides, who else makes a torque monster with 150hp that gets good mileage? i wouldnt mind a bigger tank on the attak though! guys with poor mileage need to check their sleds over real good. if your track tension is tightened to factory spec you will lose mileage. if your running 40wt oil instead of 30wt that will lose mileage. dually carbides and a lot of other things can contribute to it!
How were the individual sleds broke in. That can make a difference between sleds mileage and performance.
