Well 2 days ago when the snow storm came through i was blasting through the fields and smashing some of biggest drifts ive seen around here in a long time.

so now on to my problem. just when i thought the coolant leaks were the last of my problems. anyways.. sled sat for at least 40 hours in the garage no heat. went to start it and it started better than my car. let it warm up to 130* checked oil levels. went to move of of the garage and bam, shut off. started right back up fine. went to move and same thing over. after a few times of this i got the famous 1338, 1339. but those went away on its own. and now i have no codes but still cant move forward. the engine cuts out and will die if i stay on the throttle past 4000rpm. every now and then i can blip it past there and get rolling but any more throttle and she dies. keep in mind its showing no codes. all oil levels are fine, gas is around 1/4 on level surface.

engine can run at idle fine all day it seems. i can put it on a stand and it will run and move the track fine...

any ideas?? ill be calling yamaha dealer today.

thanks in advance.

Sounds like TORS or something funky with the throttle switch on the handlebar.

anyway to check that? thats kinda what i thought and im looking through the site now for info... but tors shouldnt kill the motor??

No, it shouldn't.....

Almost sounds like a fuel problem, like it's not supplying the engine with enough at part to full throttle, only at idle. Check the fuel line.

Baffling....

Almost like the line is kinked or blocked in some way.

Well I adjusted the throttle cable and it seems to run past the. Usual problem rpm... lines look good... the engine will rev find prior to my throttle adjustment on a stand. No hesitation there...

Glad you are getting somewhere on it.....

Post more on what works and what doesn't

well here should be the final result... adjusted cable free play.. took up alot of slack. (adjustment by handle bar was almost all the way screwed in). so i screwed it out and the sled seems to work. so i figured if i put it back and the sled has the same symptoms that has to be the problem so.. i adjusted it all the way in and sled dies while pushing on the throttle. must be tors. and with the electronics being cat there might not be any visual codes and different then we are use to being yamaha.... nothing else was changed besides this. I do have the sled on the battery charger but after all the cranking it never slowed down and always had power.

odd.. ill ride the sled later and report back..

well back to the drawing board... almost as if its staring for fuel at anything other then idle.....

still no ideas. will try to get it into the deal asap. unless someone solves it on here for me..

i wonder if the vipers has the smart valves in the tank like the cats?

Didn't someone on a different subject have a problem with the fuel vent line submerged in water in the belly under the engine? That could cause this type of symptom.

ill look. my problems are kinda sporadic. i just noticed slight suction when taking my fuel cap off. so i ran the sled with the cap off and seemed to be better. i put my hand over it to cover it and didnt feel any suction. so who knows.

edit:: that's not it, took line out from under and blew into it and heard air flow into tank. also that suction might be pressure inside the fuel tank rather than a suction.

I see some posts are talking about the TPS (throttle position sensor), this would play all kinds of havoc with starting, part throttle and when gas is told to spray.

Did you guys read that if you move the TPS it voids warranty on the cats? Hope Yamaha doesnt take that approach. What ever happened to the consumer being legally able to fix something?

Because some of those things are governed by the good ol EPA. The vehicle comes from the factory set to meet those standards and tampering with it can "technically" violate emissions and therefore warranty.
