That is a great tip.

Last year I had this probelm and solved it by firing the engine with intake cleaner. Less serve than starter fluid. It then pulled the gas through the pump.

I think air pressure solution is even better.

Timely question post and expert results got my Vector going!

I just came online the other day to post this very same question. I pumped some are pressure into the tank and cranked for about 10 seconds and damned if the old girl didn't start right up. Thank you all for the helpful advice. This website is the best!!!

The headlights turn on after the engine is running or you can turn them on by holding the thumb warmer rocker in the down position then turning the key on (don't crank the engine) and waiting 8-10 sec before releasing the rocker. The lights should come on.

If this trick is used to turn the lights on then how do you turn them off?

A dealer mechanic told me the carb bowls dry out fast in some of these sleds due to residual engine heat and over-sized carb vent tubes. I necked my vent tubes down to 1/8" to slow down the evaporation in the bowls. if my sled sits more than a month, I just pull off a gas line next to the fuel pump & manually fill the bowls w/ a small funnel. Pops off every time after that.

Don't forget to also have the gas cap on really tight or it won't hold the pressure. You can literally hear the air leaking out if it's quiet enough.

Works fine if you simply blow into the vent line as hard as you can then hold your thumb over it to trap the air pressure then crank.

Sled Dog, this question comes up quite often, is there anyway to make it a sticky with a Title like "Hard Starting Carbed Sleds" ?

Awesome tip, thanks CrewChief47. I saw this thread or one like it a few years ago and have been using this trick on my '08 Vector LT-X ever since, works like a charm.
