This video is the best one (one of the only ones) I've seen yet showing flat-out acceleration of a Ski-Doo sled equipped with the 600 ACE 4-stroke twin (60 HP).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y7uVmz_9W0

Watch at 1:12 when he pins it. It seems to me like the revs go to peak immediately, and then the clutching catches up to the revs.
Quite a different feel and sound than the Phazer, which seems to 'hit' harder in a louder, more raucous fashion.

Reviews I've read seem to say the overriding characteristic of this machine is smoothness and quietness, and this video really does seem to bear it out.

I just thought it was a neat demonstration of the differences.
Would like to hear a Phazer rider's impression of this machine, if they've ever ridden one...

The run at 1:35 it was steady.Track never spun for sure.78mph isnt bad at all.Didnt think that was possible with 60hp at motor.

What you are hearing is the TRACK revving up, it's THAT quite. The engine goes WOT right off the bat but by 30mph the sound of the track drowns out the engine noise. They seem to lack the "snappiness" of the Phazer though and you can't pop the skis on command at lower speeds like the Phazer. The one I rode with would pull about 77mph by my phazers speedo, which is ~71-72mph gps. That was on a hardpack trail with ~2" of fresh power on top.

I've read elsewhere the SkiDoo 4 strokes lag when you nail the throttle. Not an issue on my 07 Phazer, that's for sure.

My bone stock 07 FX hits 79 on hard pack snow fairly quickly. I don't normally encounter anything more than 100 yards long to see how high she'll go.

When my phazer was bone stock i saw 105 on the spedo on a hardpack county road. Phazer GT and it will do a steady 80-90 on trails. I have to say that i think Skidoo is just getting into the 4 stroke game and has a ways to go to catch up with yamaha's 4 strokes. I think the ACE is good for slower trail putters but the phazer is definitely an aggressive machine. Also the Phazer can keep up with my buddies 1000 Snopro without trouble i tend to get lost in straights then when we hit a corner im on his tail light.

the 1200 4 teck has a really nasty lag at the bottom, bassically this is because of the way the intake was designed on them. the distance from the throttle body to the cylinder is really long, takes longer for fuel and air to get into . only really see it at the bottom end of the rpm range really though.
