I m looking to buy a used sled. I'm currently interested in an 05 Rx1 with 13 k on it and a 06 Nytro with 10 k on it. Both sleds in good shape and near the same price. The Nytro has a SkiDoo susupension in it and some more add ons. The RX1 appears to be mostly bone stock. Which is the more reliable sled? Is one or the other prone to problems. I personally don't know anyone who owns either. I know thats not much info ,but all sleds have common problems with certain models. Which one would you buy?Any input would be appreciated

I would think either are reliable. What type of riding do you do? If you could bump up to a 2006 Apex I think you would be getting a lot more sled...fuel injection is a huge upgrade among other things.

I ride pretty aggressively. I like power ,but I don't have to be first across the lake. The Apex seems to be a lot better than the RX1's as I've been reading. The only sled that I've road in that style is a 2012 Apex last season. I really liked it. I can't compare it to any of the others like Vectors or RX1's , because I haven't tried them.

I've never owned either sled but both will be as reliable as the other and MAYBE the Nytro will ride better because of the Doo suspension. Does the Nytro have the taller seat? The RX1 will have the sit down, lowrider type of seat.

the rs nitro ergos are more like the apex ones.

The nytro has the same front suspension geometry as the apex but the stock valving isn't very good from the factory but with the amount of miles either sled the shocks will need a rebuild. The nytro will be easier on the knees and back because it has a lot taller bars and seat then the rx1 although you can do it cheaply on on the rx1.There are always used apex/nytro seats on here and risers.
They are both good sleds but just remember with them miles you may have to put suspension bushings and exhaust donuts in either sled.I personally would go with the rx1 overy the nytro and put an apex seat on and a riser or if you can swing the extra look for a cheap apex.

I agree with everything pro116 said

Thanks guys. I 'm trying to get a 07 and later Vector or Apex ,because of all the recommendations of them. I've read they are hands down better then the early Nytros and RX1's. Although I can save 1000-1500 by buying an RX1. It all depends on the condition of the sled and bang for the buck.

Well just remember they all came from a RX1, trust me with some upgrades like most RX1's have.
Seat.
Riser.
Intake & jetting.
22/23 tooth gear.
Clutching.
monoskid.

AND YOU HAVE A HANDLEBAR PULLING WITCH.

No doubt they can be very nice but take into consideration how much $ it will cost on top of the selling price to get it there. If it still makes sense go for it...if your going to have the same amount into it as just buying a newer Apex I'd keep looking. Let us know what you get!

Ok guys thanks. Some guy has for sale an 06 Nytro with a 2011 Ski doo Rev suspension in it. He says the suspension upgrade makes a huge difference. It's got 10000 km on it ,newer track ,fox float shocks on front. Decent cond. in pictures. He says its a turn key get on and go sled. I can get it for a good price ,just a little leary of the suspension swap. What you think?

I personaly didnt like the Nytro didnt like the ergos of the ride im not a stand up and ride kind of guy so that may be part of it.Nytro is a ditch bang stand up and ride kind of sled and i guess they do pretty well off trail if that is what you are looking for let us know how that rev suspension handles if not keep looking. if not in the 8500 range for an apex xtx I would try to find a 136 apex attack better hook up better skid and verry fun sled.

In 06 the nytro was in the same chassis as the RX1. The stand up, rider forward nytro came out in 07. It was called the FX Nytro.

oh yeah I missed the year my cousin had one of those nitro's and we could not get it to rail at all but was a fuel millage getter.
