Remember Joe Bidens remark while he was on the campagne trail,"The Change Will Be Very Painful". What he was saying was "It will be a Political Correction, not an Economic Correction. Remember, 60% of our oil and gas comes from Canada & Mexico. Only a small portion comes from the Middle East. Obama wants to let the cost of our energy requirements rise so as to wean us off our "Oil Addiction" He will accomplish this by not allowing any drilling in the US. Cap & Trade will do even more to damage our economy as we know it today. If Cap & Trade doesn't pass, EPA still has all the tools to accomplish the very same thing. Our economic situation is a "Congressionally Mandated Crisis" and it has been in the works by the GREENS for many years. I would love to help stimulate the economy and buy a new Jeep Liberty Limited but, I am worried about that next shoe to hit the floor and so I won't buy one now. And that is what everyone is doing out of fear of this "New World Order" being forced on us. Remember, "Free Pizza & Beer is a Human Right".

Buy less beer.
$2.50 was already too high. And beer is the last thing I would ever give up. I would give up food and medical care before I'd give up drinking. It's the only thing that keeps me halfway sane! My retirement is going to be moving someplace warm and doing nothing but drink until I'm old and fat - or dead.

Here's an interesting read, important and verifiable information :
By the way...this is all true. Check it out at the link below!!!

Thanks for posting that!
He is exactly correct.
Even the idea that we are burning "fossil fuels" is not true.
Very few scientists will back up the idea of "fossil fuels"
(Most that do, work for oil company front companies.)
While it is true oil is carbon based, so is most everything on earth, that doesn't make everything "fossil fuel".
Most scientists believe the earth has a mechanism that makes oil (that has nothing whatsoever to do with dinosaurs and/or plants), and that is why most any oil find will well outperform even the most optimistic estimates prior to pumping the well.
And also why oil wells tend to fill back up(with oil) when not used.
(Even oil companies know that most wells will produce relatively indefinitely, if they pump them at a slower rate, and they do just that all over the US.)
We use the engines we use (rarely 15% efficient), the fuel we use, the prices we pay, because of the decisions of those in charge.
You do not have the choice of a better engine because the choice was made not to give that choice to you.
(See Who killed the electric car.)
These are all economic and/or political decisions, definitely not based on what is good for you & I.
What should really make you mad is not really the fact that we are being milked slowly by rising costs, but that we literally waste approximately 85% of every dollar that goes into your tank.
(The waste appears in the form of heat & emissions, these don't do anything to propel your Car, Truck, or Sled.)
This decision was made for you, not by you.
Given the choice, I would much rather have double the horsepower AND double the mileage.
When the engines are as inefficient as they are now, it's not too hard to do.
Until then, as arteex mentioned, it isn't that much of a change in my gas tank, definitely won't keep me from riding.

I'm not complaining about the price of gas, we were over $4 here in California at one point, we're below $3 right now.
We have the lowest gas prices of any country i've been to, because we have a free gas market, take a look at our friends down south, ever been to a PEMEX station? Gas costs a lot in Mexico, and they are a big gas producer too!
Ever been up north? Gas costs a LOT more in Canada too.
Oil prices are up, but it isn't going to stop me from riding. As Americans, we need to make more money, so we can buy some more of that cheap gas!

You also have to realise that the US government is "hoarding" oil, and not tapping into reserves . It is more like saving for a rainy day, when the rest are without, it will still be in the backyard. The billions of barrels stored underground along the gulf coast is phenominal, at the least. Again, here in Canada, each province adds thier share of taxes on top the other costs. Right now, my 87 octane is 98.5cents/liter, and the trend is looking at a drop in price. If you by marked boat gas here, 91 octane, it's still 99 cents/liter, but no road tax on it. Not sure of the states, but we do have an option of sort, but it is still a joke either way.
Again, the best way is if people just could stop driving for 1 day, and watch the prices drop, but that would be an impossible feat and the government and Opec knows it.
Brazil was smart, they have thier own oil set aside for the countries needs, the rest is on the world market at high prices. Albeit, the price has been staedy at about 1.28/liter, but for 3 years now, no change (I have family there and the price hasn't moved at the local station in that area of the city)
Best advice, check out marked boat gas, don't worry about the dye in it, it won't hurt a thing!

The way I look at riding the sled is I'm gonna go whenever I can. I am not a high mileage rider here right now. The weather here on the east coast of the Province sucks. In 2 seasons I have put 1400 miles on my Apex. I guess if gas was cheaper I would tow the sled across the Province more to find snow.
We are getting royally screwed by the gas companies yet we never seem to do anything about it.

I put almost 1000 on mine in two weeks after I bought it in the spring. Back when gas was under $1.50 (and Amsoil was $6/qt), we put on 3-4k every winter. Unfortunately, I'm on a fairly fixed income and can't just make more money to enjoy my gas burning vehicles so I gotta just cut back.

Sounds like your more into drinking than sledding.
To me, burning fossil fuel with my right thumb is priceless! As one of my of my bosses use to say "It is what it is", now filler up and lets go sledding!

Hey, I can drink any time of the year! Sledding is merely a crutch so I don't go postal during the winter.

Dammit they better not raise the price of beer!
If you can't afford the gas for your sled, stay home and knit some mitts or something!

That $3 bottle of beer you just knocked back after the ride ran you about $32 per gallon. The 2 oz shot of tequila was $192 per gallon.

I always wonder why nobody can make a car anymore with a "normal" engine that gets good gas mileage. I bought a Geo metro convertible and I get 46 mpg in that beast.

Ahh I love these semi political topics... Here in Wisconsin it's not mandatory to have insurance but, as of Jan 1st 2010 if you do have insurance (any vehicle) you must carry a new minimum liability (we are now the highest in the nation). So watch your insurance double.
If the White House can drive the price of fuel up to say 6 bucks a gallon then more people would purchase a new GM (aka Government Motors) tiny new vehicle that still gets crappy fuel economy. And he would have saved another 200 million jobs ...on paper.
Ok now my blood pressure is up... I will go take a chill pill.
