XT_GT, Nice looking sled! Mine is all stock(blue)i need to do something this year to brighten it up a little.
I get 16mpg pretty much every tank, times 8 gallons is a 128 mile range. My gauge is pretty accurate, like mentioned, when the light comes on, there is about 2 gallons left.

Don't worry about long track mpg, Worst I've seen is 16mpg once with pretty much the throttle taped to the bars for 75 miles in a row playing keep up on a long chain of lakes. I usually average 19-20 on the trails riding with the "boys" which is pretty aggressive but keeping under 60mph. The best tank was 22.9mpg which took 3.1 gallons to go 71 miles, that was with the family at a nice smooth 35-40mph with no stop and go. This is with a 144" Maverick and steeper gears (equivalent to a 17 tooth on a short track).

^^^ Wow almost 23mpg. I've never got 19mpg and that's being fairly easy on it on a trip. Mostly 16 to 17, maybe 18 on good conditions. My buddys Vec usually gets about 1/2 to 1 mpg less then my Phazer.
Wish it had a bigger tank. I hate stopping for gas! Always busy, never any snow in the lot, fingers freeze, can't get at my wallet. The Ski-Doo ACE with that 300 mile range would be sweet.

Just my two cents, but if you are riding the Phazer hard, then you should only expect to get about 15 or 16mpg. At least that is what I normally averaged on the trail. There is yellow warning light when the gauge hits one bar.

ya, the 22.9 was the tank before the 16mpg. The Family called it quits for the day and I decided go with a few buddies that showed up at the resturant. I don't think I dropped below 70mph on that tank except for small ~1 mile trails between lakes and the last 10 miles before fueling at the end of the ride. It was the only time I was ever worried about running out of gas as the low fuel light came on at only 72 miles with 20 miles to go to a fuel stop! My buddies Polaris 600 needed one of my 1 gallon cans to make it the last 2 miles!
I run the track VERY loose, added an extra set of idlers, and have a set of scratchers on the skies to keep everything lubed so I'm sure that all helps a bit. Also I think the MTX has a better attack angle than the short tracks so that helps too.

i wonder if the gauge or light starts blinking when the last bar is gone?
The last bar never disappears if I recall, I wondered that too on my Nytro, till it ran out....

MSR Fuel Bottle
I installed this one last year. The manual canisters have been very popular in the dual-sport motorcycle community. These will hold an 887ml MSR fuel bottle for a bit of extra fuel.
My guess is it may be just enough fuel to get me out of the woods, or to the next major roadway.
I did mount it on my tunnel and ran it a few times with no bottle in it to be sure the heat would not heat up the canister. All is good.
We have found that putting a thick tube sock around the bottle does give it just the right amount of padding to eliminate any rattling. I put my tools and belt in my tank bag now.
Hope this helps!

If i bust powder all day, i am good for about 65 miles before the light comes on. close to 10 miles to the gallon. On the trail i can get up to maybe 16 or so. it's an 08 mtx.

Hmm I only get 8-12 MPG on my phazer...... Day two of the I 500 loop was 65 miles and I barley made it back in to the second fuel stop.
11-13 here.Unless kid is on back and I just cruise then over 20mpg.When its pinned its a gas hog for the power coming out of it.Then again guys I ride with are needing gas before me most times.

that is so funny, all my riding buddies, all on 2strokes always have to get gas before me, i usually fill up anyway to be safe, but throwing in 2-3 gallons is better than 6-8.. but one thing that has me curious is i am running a pc3 and ignition module, i wonder if that helps my mpg when i am just at cruzing speed holding a constant rpm????... and dont get me wrong i have gotten 90miles to a tank of gas, 136 was just my best... yes im a big mpg dork...lol
