XTX 2009 skid frame with 2011 updates, photo

Stiffer 1500 coil springs are kick a$$.
Shoulda done that mod last year.
Nice stiff (rough trail) XTX now.
I'm 200lbs but with all the snow that this skid carrys... I like it.
Cheers

My spring holders on '09 XTX have worn themselves into the sides of the rails. Much like your 1st photo indicates but much severe. With time I would imagine it would weaken the rails, therefore a fix is needed?

Are the torsion springs for '11 same as older XTX models?

Mach 9 are those Ski-doo wheels? or are they updated yamaha wheel?

Doo wheels.
One of the best mods I did last year.
But I would have bought Excell bigger wheels that use Yamaha bearings if they were available.

I just put on 2011 torsion springs, 1500s which is 400 stiffer than the 2009 xtx springs.
I think the 2011 xtx comes with 1200s stock this year.
And what I've read before on TY was that 2009 stock xtx came with 1100s.
Cheers

Are the new springs longer then previous years? I am already running Hygear spacers therefore not looking for stiffer rate springs.

springs

Does anyone have a part number for the heavier torsion springs? I called my dealer and they could not find anything heavier for my 2010 XTX.

I found the 2011 1500k springs to be a little bit shorter by a small amount over my 2009 stock springs, but it didn't matter.

Did you put on new spring hooks and relocate them off the wheel mounts directly onto rails like the 2011 models? If so, did you need to drill new hole in the rails?

Drill a new hole.
Put the new plate on first (dual hole plate).
Center punch the rails for the top hole.
Drill big enough for the new bolt.
Put on the new hooks.

It was time for new hooks anyway.
I was surprised to see how much the old hooks were worn where the spring runs.

Bump...I would like to do it, how is it working out for anyone who has done it?

Thanks for sharing this mach9, i did this to my sled a few weeks ago. Just waiting on parts to come in to finish up. I opted to machine up some custom idler mounts to mount an extra wheel on the outside, rather than the inside.
I also threw on a low snow up front to help with some of the wear hopefully.

your wasting your time adding wheels if you dont go with larger wheels. I.e. 2012 yamy, excell, or skidoo.
I replaced all my wheels@35miles and am currently at 1800 miles with plenty of hyflex left. debating whether to change them while the sled is at my shop or just take it to maine and see how far it will go...i still have like 1/8" to the wear line at my worse spot.
i did excell inners and kimpex pro outers,(13.99@mfgsupply.com)
