Hi I have some thoughts on clutching, I have searched but not found what I locking for. I think the original settings are way to aggressive and would like a softer-on and calmer behavior up for everything at powder ride and at trail ride in lower speeds. If someone can come up with a little tip, I would be very grateful , I am a total beginner on clutch settings.

Ulmer's has exactly what you want. Very simple install (no more than 45 minutes). Just tell them your weight and they will send you a bolt in kit.

I changed primary clutch rollers to 15mm from 15.6 with stock clutching. It really grabs the belt better at lower speeds & has smoother engagement.

Is that enough to change just the rollers? There is no need to switch to a spring with a lower starting pressure?

Yes, I bet that they have but with shipping to Sweden, and the low crown exchange rate against the dollar, it will be very expensive kit.

The rollers lower engagement & grip the belt harder. for 99% of riders it is more then enuff.

Ok I will try changing them and see how it is, thanks for the tip.
Looking through the tech database, I see that for the rollers (15mm), there are 2 types. One is Duralon (8CR-17624-10), the other is Vespel (8FG-17624-10). According to Yamaha's microfiche, the 15.6mm Vespel rollers (8FG prefix) are used from the factory. I have located some Duralon ones. Would they be ok to use? Is one material better than the other?
Also, I already have added the 2.44 gram rivets to the bottom hole in the weights. Can/should the rollers still be changed for a better grip? I still get a black ring on my primary and would like to get rid of it if possible without spending the money for a clutch kit.
Thanks for all the help.

This is the chart that I pulled my part numbers from. http://www.totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles ... ollers.htm
Any thoughts on this would be great.

do a search on this forum of my posts about clutching, for 25 buck you can get great clutching, take out the aluminum rivets and put in the 2.44 gram rivets, replace the stock primary spring with a blue-pink-blue and set you secondary to 60 on the wind instead of 70,whole new sled

Can you explain what the difference is compaired to stock? I'm very interested.... is this a kit or misc over the shelf parts?
Thanks!
Thanks 170plus,
Actually, I have your thread bookmarked in my favorites. Thus far I have changed to the 2.44 rivets, secondary wrap to 60, ulmer windage plates and have the B-P-B spring, just not installed.
I was just curious as to the benefit, if any, of using the 15mm rollers along with the above setup. I have a lot to learn about clutching. I bought my first rideable sled last year (before that just old arctic cat field bombs), then purchased the XTX this year. So far it's been tons of fun, and I've learned alot tweaking the suspension and steering. Still have a ways to go though.
Thanks again

What are your turns-on with the modification?
My is completely original about 3900-4000 and it is far too high, I think.
I tried with 15mm rollers but I do not think it was much of a difference but I will try B-P-B and 2.44 weights.

this is a pendexter powersports(owned by 170plus) fix for the lowend engagement belt slipping problems, the rivets add belt squeeze at the low rpm,the spring allows a little bit lower engage rpm and a little bit softer all the way thru the rpm range and the wind of the secondary allows to shift into a higher gear instead of staying in a lower gear while cruising,if you like a quicker backshift leave secondary at 70,going on a trip and dont care about performance put the secondary at 50 and enjoy the gas mileage gain
