**Yamaha Motor Announces Return to Snowmobile Market with Renewed Focus on 2-Stroke Engine Innovation**
**April 1, 2026**
**IWATA, Japan, April 1, 2026** — Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its return to the snowmobile business, marking a new chapter driven by advanced engineering and a revitalized commitment to high-performance 2-stroke engine technology.
The Company plans to re-enter key markets in North America and Europe beginning with the 2027 model year. This strategic move reflects Yamaha’s renewed interest in leveraging modern materials, precision fuel delivery systems, and emissions-conscious engineering to redefine the capabilities of next-generation 2-stroke powertrains.
---
### 1. Background and Strategic Direction
Yamaha first entered the snowmobile market in 1968 and built a legacy of innovation and performance over decades. Following its previous withdrawal, the Company conducted extensive research into evolving recreational demands, environmental technologies, and performance expectations.
As a result, Yamaha has identified an opportunity to reintroduce snowmobiles that combine:
* Lightweight, high-output 2-stroke engines
* Improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions
* Enhanced rider experience through advanced chassis and control systems
By integrating cutting-edge combustion technologies and sustainable engineering practices, Yamaha aims to set a new benchmark in the snowmobile industry.
---
### 2. Product Development and Market Re-entry
Development of Yamaha’s new snowmobile lineup is currently underway, with prototype testing in extreme winter environments already in progress. The upcoming models will feature:
* Newly engineered 2-stroke engine platforms
* Advanced electronic fuel injection systems
* Rider-focused ergonomics and digital integration
Production is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with initial deliveries planned for fall 2026 ahead of the 2027 snow season.
Yamaha will collaborate closely with global dealers and partners to ensure a smooth re-entry and strong customer support network.
---
### 3. Commitment to Customers and Innovation
Yamaha recognizes the passion and loyalty of the global snowmobile community. The Company is committed to delivering products that honor its heritage while embracing future technologies.
This return represents not only a revival of Yamaha’s presence in the snowmobile market, but also a broader commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the enduring excitement of winter sports.
---
Yamaha extends its appreciation to customers and partners worldwide and looks forward to reconnecting with riders through this new era of snowmobile development.

2 strokes are as bad as getting in bed with Artic cat.

Well at least they had a bed with Arctic Cat! Now what do they have?
if they wouldn't of got in bed with them they would still be making Snowmobiles! AC wanted in bed with them just so they could get them out.

Im waiting for the Wankel engine version, joint venture with Mazda Snowmobile Division and Skiroule.
