Ok guys trick question time.

So after many years I have gotten back into snowmobiling this year. Back in December I bought a really clean 2005 RX-1ER with just 1800 Miles on it. Then just this week I bought a new leftover 2011 FX Nytro XTX. I needed another sled so my 16 year old son could come snowmobiling too. I'm handing the RX-1 off to my son as I'm a big guy and the nytro fits me better.

My question is. Can I swap the skis from my Nytro on to the RX-1. The reason being is the RX-1 is really, really, heavy steering. After doing some reading here @ TY forums I have deduced the RX-1 must have some really super duper gnarly carbides on the Skis. The do leave a really deep double groove in the snow. We hate them they suck!

So I was thinking I would upgrade my Nytro to new Yamaha tuner skies and swap my stock 2011 Nytro skis over to the RX-1.

Will this work?

You don't have to change skis. the bolt pattern for the carbides is the same, The skis can be interchanged also the only difference is the rx 1 skis might have an alluminum saddle and the keel of the ski might be different.

05 rx1 skis are exactly the same as 2011 Nytro. I have both an 05rx1 and 2011 Nytro. Yeti, I am suprised you found a brand new leftover that is a 2011. Nice find there. What color is it.

It's white. And I was able to get a really really good deal on it. Dealer said his snowmobile sales have dwindled to almost nothing the last few years...

Sounds like the RX1 has too much ski pressure. May want to loosen up the limiter strap......

Yes, it seem to have a lot of ski pressure and what I believe to be deuce bar carbides. It is a absolute bear to steer! It has a lot of picks in the track too. Whoever had it must have rode on icy hard pack exclusively I guess. I dunno, I am new to this.

Whoever had that sled loved it because they kept it beautiful shape, they even gay'd it up putting little blue led lights all over it!

I have dual carbides too. Mine steers easy, however. I believe I have completely loosened the strap. I'm guessing the picks may make it push in a corner, but I wouldn't think it would have anything to do with ski pressure. That's the thing with these sleds is to get it adjusted to your riding style. Once you do that, they're a breeze to ride...... I like the front end as loose as possible and yet be able to grab the corners...... But, I wouldn't consider my riding style as being "up on it".

i would highly recommend going in the tech section and look up how to shim the skis on the rx-1. I tried everything with my 03 over the last 5 years and i couldnt believe the diffrence that this easy fix made.

I bet it was a good deal. Where are u in central pa? I have relatives in central pa.

I'm in Altoona.

Sister in law and brother in law in lewistown. Not sure where that is in relation to where you are. Back to the skis, I put a set of C&As on my rx1 and what a big difference. But before I did that my stock skis only had the factory runners and didn't seem to steer hard.

Personally I am not a fan of the dual runners. They do not hold a line and push more. If you want to experiment with some other skags shoot me a PM. I've got lots of used skags here that you could experiment with.
