That is the look I was referring to as a "stuffed sausage". In any case, if I remember correctly, the Apex mountain seat was nearly 4" taller than my stock RS Rage seat. Oh, and the other bonus for going with an Apex seat is you get a large trunk with it. G.B.

I swear I have seen Apex seats on here for sale under $200 last season. I bought an Apex Mountain seat off of Snowest for $50 plus $50 for shipping. a few years ago. I will let you guys know if I see one for sale. G.B.

Thanks Yamaha but I think I would try and add another inch or 2 to my stock seat before I would go that route?
Anyone ever done that before, just remove your stock seat cover, add some extra foam and reinstall the seat cover?
I am hoping it can be done as I want to continue to use my stock 40th anniversary seat.

Here's a pretty good thread on adding foam to your seat.

I'm sure there are others, try a search.

I added 2" of high density foam to my RX for a couple of years.
It was a nice improvement over stock but still was not close to the additional ride height and comfort of the stock Apex seat.
I wouldn't have wasted the time stuffing my seat had I known at the time what a difference it was. IMHO

Just so I undertand you correctly? You added 2" inches of high end foam but it still wasn't as good as an Apex seat?

Was it not better than you stock seat or just not better enough to warrant the time you put into it?

Been a long drawn out repair... I took a couple pictures but I got my oilite bushings installed, a-arms powder coated, painted the vents and windshield red, I am going to order the mountain throttle cable soon so I can get rid of the powermadd extension, and still looking to add some foam to the seat

When I went from the stock seat to 2" of high density added foam I also installed at that time a 2" riser block... seemed to work ok for me.
The Apex seat sits you even higher than adding 2" of high density foam and it's also more comfortable. The mountain version is better yet but I'm happy as I usually ride groomed trails.
Long story short had I known the difference I wouldn't have wasted my time stuffing the stock 03 seat.
I still have it here and it looks great if anyone wants it... all black.

Well I was considering selling this sled.... Until we finally got enough snow to put some miles on!
Sled is great so far but could definitely could use a diet. My rear suspension is also lacking quite a bit (bottoms easily) Starting to think of some mods for the summer. Thinkin about finding either a Mono or Pro Active and having it revalved. Also thinking about under tunnel exhaust and a different seat. Gonna be an expensive summer

Well after scouring Craigslist, I have managed to find a set of mountain skis, Apex MTX seat and, an Attack rear suspension! Now looking for the mounting points for the suspension?
Thanks in advance!
