Just a heads up I received this morning. No claims made here regarding accuracy/the normal disclaimers. FWIW

Just wanted to let you know that there will be another price increase on Oct 1st. Normally I dont catch this till a week or so after it happens, but the fact that Yamaha is giving us a warning it will probley will be a big increase. IIf you were planning on doing any big orders in the future, you might want to do them before Sept 30. The new price tape will take affect on Sept 30 at 1 P.M pacifice standard time. Thank You again for your business and any refferals would be greatly apreaciated. Dan mcveigh

Dear Yamaha Dealer:
Yamaha Motor works hard to remain your #1 source of parts and accessories. We strive to provide high quality parts and accessories at competitive prices. Due to a significant rise in supplier cost, a price increase will be implemented starting October 1st 2008. This pricing change will only effect parts for units no longer in production, some selected older parts will have a greater increase than others.
In early September, two price master files will be distributed to your Dealer Management Systems and posted on YDS for your convenience. One file will have the parts prices for the month of September. The other file will have the October prices. By comparing the two files you’ll be able to see which part numbers have been impacted. It may be beneficial for you to stock up on these parts in September before the price increase is implemented.
Thank you for your continued support of Yamaha Genuine Parts and Accessories.

Doesn't sound like it will affect the 4strokers much, read the line "pricing change will only effect parts for units no longer in production"

Could include things like tall steering knuckles for 03-05, but more than likely, this has to do with the cost of keeping the tooling for parts that are no longer in high demand -- when you make 10000 parts per year, the cost per part for running and maintaining the machines is low. When you make 5 per year, those costs skyrocket.

Would be impossible to increase Canadian prices any higher, they are already at least twice the U.S. prices
