Well lets see how do you say this nice. Ok I will try!
How many miles do you have on your sled? I dont ahve enough to post my settings!

1) I'm 260lb. no gear
2)"Fat Boy" spring upgrade (5.5Kg)
3) Max Preload on the spring
4) Transfer at Std.
5) "Rebound" back to standard after spring upgrade.
6) Stock skis, Bergstrom 6" Triple Point carbides
I had the rebound adjustment maxed prior to the spring upgrade which helped with bottoming but made the ride pretty harsh over smaller bumps.
My riding partner for the weekend, Port Parts (Kevin), set his transfer to max and liked how he could make the skis dance. I preferred to have my skis on the ground more so I left the transfer alone.
My front shocks are at standard preload but I tinkered with both the rebound and compression until I got them where I liked it.
Overall, I really, really like the machine with a bit over 700 miles of pretty crappy trails.

I am curious too. I just had the FAT BOY spring put in last weekend but did not ride it. Now that everyone has had a chance to experiment, are the stock settings on compression adn rebound close. should I change the limiter position? Sled is strictly trail ridden.

From my experience, the spring upgrade made all the difference in the world, I felt I could use even a bit more spring but I could also stand to lose a little weight.
Since you didn't ride since the spring upgrade, I recommend putting the rebound, transfer etc. at the stock position then adjust one thing at a time until you like how it rides.
The nice thing about the GT is the adjustments are easy and quick to accomplish. The strange thing, at least for me, is I didn't have to adjust too far from stock to like how the machine rides.

"Fat boy spring", that is referenced often, but does the average consumer know which spring the dealer installed?
If the dealer only uses Yamaha parts the choice is limited to 5.5kg. or 7.0kg. The stock spring is 4.9kg.
Ohlins offers spring rates in either .3kg. or .2kg. depending on the range. The unfortunate part of this is Ohlins USA only has a very limited stock available in the states. I tried to order several different springs only to find most not in stock. Special order from Sweden. I got a 6.4kg. for my sled that was in stock.
GT set up
Rider weight: 175# with gear
Front sprint length: 25.52cm
Front comp: 6
Front rebd: 4
Rear sprint length: 268mm
Compression: I run in the middle to stiff if it's flat and fast, and dump it to soft when it gets rough.
Rebound: 16
Transfer location: from the stock setting, 1.5 lines towards increase
Limiter strap: third hole
Skies: Shimmed
(No studs or blades yet and I ordered a 13mm sway bar)
After about 150 mi I made my adjustments. With in the next 150 miles it's just about perfect. No darting, steers straight, hooks up great, I can actually control the transfer (balance) by sliding forward or back on the seat. When I get in the woods I slide forward to get a bit more bite on the front, once I hit the straight I slide back and hang on! Very little effort to drive fast. I've been riding for over 25 years and this is the best sled that I've ever driven.

Thank for the clarification, I learned that my new spring is 5.5 kg. set to full max so I could use a bit more as I don't feel my low speed/small bump performance was degraded at all with the heavier spring.
That being said, I'd really like to just ride it instead of throwing more money at it. 8)

My fat boy spring carried a part # of GYT 8GD47-00
What is the kg rate of this one? I assume that the dealer set it on max. I know the correct way is to measure th sag of the spring itself, but as a quick method, how much should it drop measured at the bumper rail when my fat #*$&@ sits on it?

You tell me why you should have to purchase a stiffer spring for a $ 10,000 machine.
Because I'm outside of the specification range for what the manufacturer considers the maximum weight for the stock spring. My dealer informed of that up front, before I purchased my machine so there was no surprise here. Unfortunately, the "Fatboy" spring wasn't available when I took delivery of my machine so I had it installed later.APEX GT 4 STROKER said:You tell me why you should have to purchase a stiffer spring for a $ 10,000 machine.
welterracer
TY 4 Stroke God
210lbs fully dressed
Stock spring compressed to max.
front spring at stock, compresson 3 clicks softer
rear shock at softest compression and 3 clicks more rebound!
8 inch carbides on stock skis
13mm swaybar.
transfer rod at Maximum transfer (better hole shot)
Sled really rails threw corners.. expecially if hardpack (almost hard to steer due to long carbides)
