Did anyone else have trouble installing the rivets that came with the ZX2 suspension. I am using one of those long handle hand rivet tools. Every time I try to set the rivet part of the mandrel sticks out beyond the head.
Besides hating the look I hate the thought of snagging my gear on it. Is it the rivets that are causing this and is there an easy way to get the mandrel in further?

I did not have that issue, all broke nice and clean. Just hit them with a small griding stone and get them flush.

Could be your rivet tool that is causing you trouble, been there done that, had to throw away the last one I had to buy a new one, problem solved.
I had no problem with the ZX-2 rivets, they are Steel-Steel rivets and requires a good rivet tool. Bad rivets would not make it any better either.

I had a similar problem and ended up buying an air rivet gun. Solved problem. Saved my hands to because the rivets that came with the ZX-2 broke two smaller rivet guns.

I have seen that happen alot working on race cars.
Usually when its happening to me is because Im tired and n ot keeping the rivet gun/head flush and off on an angle. Then it kind of brakes them off on an angle rather than pulling them apart.
Not saying its an issue, just a thought. I did find a cheap air rivet gun on ebay and bought it, never used it though

By the time I was done installing my hands where numb from the vibration of the rivet gun when the rivet finally snapped. The last few I dreaded because my hands just plain hurt.
Toughest rivet I have ever used. Mine finished pretty good. I think I hit a couple with a file to dull the sharp edge. Most snapped clean.

Thanks for the offer sj! I think I am all set though. I guess the air rivet gun is the real solution, but when you are pinching pennies to make sure you can afford gas and parts for the upcoming season sometimes you just have to take the cheap route! I took a grinder to the ones sticking out and got them atleast flush with the rivet head so they are not sharp and do not stand out as bad. It will work, not perfect as I would like it but it is done and over with.

I know you are done, but here is a link to the riveter I used. Maybe not as expensive as you thought?? It will do most of the rivets.

That is a very affordable rivet gun. Although that is only half the puzzle. A compressor is a good $150-$300 on top of that. I have been putting off buying one for quite some time.
Oh well, thanks for the help guys.
