One thing to watch for, sometimes the oil filter o-ring will seperate from the filter and stay on the engine. If you install a new filter over it, you will have a leak.
Lost in January 2012, by the time I got the part and had it installed snowmobiling was over. Also I have another 2008 Yamaha that the starter is getting bad in now, wont be long before that will need to be changed too.
She's totally dead now. Went to start it,cranked slowly as usual, backfired and now won't even crank. Just get the relay click when you turn the key. Bringing in to the dealership. First time machine has to be towed, I hope it's the last.
When Starting, it barely cranks over and slowly spins faster and faster. It's as if something is binding on start and loosens up after a few seconds. Worst when its cold but even happens when its worm although not near as bad. It always ends up starting but I'm getting nervous the machine is...
exact thing happened to mine. At that time I started to go through the suspension and just about all bearings were gone. Changed bearings where I could, regreased some of the bearings in the non replaceable wheels and had to replace some wheels. The two big ones were tore to pieces. This was at...
This has happened to mine too. Others also have had this issue. Move it back in place to mesh with the cogs with a prybar(a little WD40 helps) and then what I did was put a hose clamp on the shaft so the sproket won't move again.
I use the yamaha ones, part# SMA-8ETHP-DR-00
Work really well and inexpensive. I use them on a VK and my wife use them on a VectorLTX GT. You will have to turn the heat down low even on the coldest days and lots of room inside so it does'nt interfer with the controls.
I would'nt take it apart to inspect it unless you had cause like you notice a new vibration, leak or noise and have eliminated all other possible causes. You are well below the miles that people start to have chaincase issues. That gearbox is well built and robust and rarely do I ever hear of...
After 6 seasons with the Vk Pro, I was in the market for a new widetrack and just purchased a 2012 Skandic WT 600 e-tec. I feel that no effort has been made to improve the VK Pro or expand the widetrack lineup. I could'nt go out and buy the exact same machine that I bought 6 years ago. No fun in...

It cost me 180 bucks to change the engine and chaincase oil on two machines without changing the filters. 7 bottles of synthetic oil, 2 bottles of chaincase lube and a tube of grease. I did the oil change myself. If I had to change the filters it would have been well over 200$.(for two machines)
