I'm sure you'll love the re-valve. As far as the coupling goes it actually will ride better with more coupling. This is because both of the shocks have to work together. This allows you to run the clicker softer so the valving is comfy in the stutters but still doesn't bottom out in the g-outs.
They have some good things on those sleds. I like the stock cobra, weight, and clearance for a 1.75" lug track and 3/8" suds. I also like that the external rear shock mounting leaves all of that space open within the suspension-no icing problems to worry about there.
I think it would be fun...
An M-10 would be good if you are a long distance trail cruiser. It is VERY plush when setup properly however it has a couple of drawbacks. It: gains track tension as it goes through travel-lowering gas milage and top end, is not a very good mogul mashing suspension, has poor weight transfer, and...
Wow, I have no clue what to tell you. Other than the possibility that pioneer valved the center shock too stiff, I can't think of why it could be handling like that. I would call Bruce, for 350-400 you should be satisfied with the way it rides.
It really sounds to me like it is valved it too stiff for your riding style/area. Is it still too harsh when you loosten up the clicker on the rear shock? How much transfer are you running?
That is a tough spot you are in, have you called Bruce? Maybe it is re-valved a bit stiff for your riding style.
I spent around $900, admittedly, it is a large initial investment. They also offer one moddel down from the package I got. It gives you the same valving, a hyflo hose, the center...
I would also say that it is probably the tors code. Might I ask, how much slack is in your throttle cable with that riser? Also, were you turning the bars in an extreme direction? If the answer to the first question is tight and second is yes your throttle cable is too short and you need to buy...
Here is why I dropped the big cash for my hygear setup:
I can second that the hygear setup is well worth the extra money. I had the same work as heelingcowboy1 done to my sled except that I had a resi with a compression adjuster added to the center shock (front rear suspension shock) as well...
its amazing, just years ago before the 4stroke movement and REVolution it seemed as though everyone was on a cat or poo. Goes to show how snowmobilers follow the technology.
I did them when I had the full workup done to my suspension (multi-rate front spring, valving, resis etc). I love how my sled rides now (I still have plenty of sag) however I question how much of the ride quality is due to those spacers...after looking at how they work and how the suspension...
