Got 2800 miles on my 06 Vector, but plan on changing this weekend. Getting pretty thin in the front. Also the same on the Apex with 3000 miles and original set of hi-fax. Planning on a ride of 500 to 600 miles next week and need the change before risking a problem on the trail.
Got 2500 miles and no problems. Check with the dealer and ask about reforcement plates and they could get them but didn"t see a need none of their customers have had a problem. I just watch my flap when backing off the trailer just in case this could be causing a problem.
Not sure if you can charge off the leads. The book says you can jump the sled of the leads. It seems logical you could charge it thru the leads. 2amp would be best for any small 12 volt batteries. It seems like full charge should be around 14 amp on the meter. I've installed Optimiun II...
Looking at your UserName... I would like to thank you son for his service to our country. As far as starting, I found don"t touch the throttle when starting. Turn the key, wait for fuel pump motor to stop, then start. It should fire with no problem. Let idle till the temp light goes out...
I bought two last spring and left them plugged in all Summer. Matter of fact just unplugged them this week. Ran leads off the battery to plug in charger. It is a pain other wise just finding the battery to recharge it. I feel they are worth the cost in saving the battery and the aggrevation...
Thanks. I was wondering also whether there be a heat lose on the warmer. I"m going to drill a hole just barely thru the plastic and let the screw thread itself the rest of the way. If it doesn"t work I'll throw in the box with some other stuff I've bought over the years that didn"t work.
Just got a Throttle Flare for wife"s sled. Suppose to be easier on the thumb. Instructions say drill a 1/8 in hole in throttle control and be careful of the thumb warmer. Question is the rubber pad that encloses the thumb warmer dose a heat wire run around the parimeter of the pad or is there...
The "0" ring sounds like a good idea. The rubber band may not work as well. Sometimes tend to dry out or twist. I like the "o" ring suggestion will try.
Once you get use to leting off alittle on the throttle in the curves and let the motor do the braking the twisty will be fun. The Apex really rocks you made a good choice.
I have both a Vector and an Apex (2006'S). I have never rode the Nytro but the Apex has the Vector beat hands down. Speed, comfort, sitting postion. The Apex is a bit noisier with the pipe coming out the back. THe Apex has great mid range and top end a fun sled to ride.
Our local paper has a m-10 used for $600. Not sure if it would fit in my wife's vector. Question is does M-10 come one size fits all or by model and brand? I had a couple polaris's with M10 and loved the ride.
Sounds like a melt down to me. Marginal snow conditions at high speed. No lube for the slides when riding on bare ice. Can"t believe it"s a problem with the inner wheels under normal riding conditions 6 plus inches of snow with some base. Problem might be with the handle bar holder too much...
I just studded my sled and checked the slides over closely. They looked fine with 2450 miles from last season. Got a new set at the Fall Show just in case. WIth the current snow forecast for Michigan going to be tuff to get many miles this season if it don"t start snowing soon.
I thought it was wierd to blow in to the gas tank to start a carbed 4 stroke. I read that and laughed. Thought someone was putting me on. Well yesterday I tried to start my Vector and cranked and cranked. Then I recalled this info said what the heck I'll try it and pow the engine started...
The solid side Yamaha bags are nice but expensive. I bought a set of tour bags similar to Parts Unlimited style shown at DKirk. Then went to a shoe repair shop and had a strap sewed on the bottom outside corners to attach to the rear bumper and keep bag away from the rear exhaust. Also, hand...
Suggest you don"t buy the 06 apex mirrors unless you want to watch your knees in the mirrors. The spot they are suppose to be mounted dosn"t give you much area a view and are worthless. Some the members here are using the Ski-doo mirrors that mount on the windshield area. Do a search and can...
I saw the similar COldwave setup. This looks like the only way to go. They have a seat bra to fit a Yamaha then you can snap on the saddle bags or a top bag or both. Custom fit tons of storage for long trips or unsnap a bag or so and use what you need for a day trip.
