switched to yamaha mountain skis and in the deep much better on my XTX. Trail is just ok, I liked the ski doo skis better for that. Running dually right now
congrats on coming over, I did the same thing also from Doo. Just remember to do some research on the forums if your setting the sled up for boondocking (skis/track etc) 4 stroke has an awesome feel and noise!
I can tell you the shocks are better than a standard Ski Doo Gade but what do I know only owned both this year. Limiter strap I checked and it is a little frayed but nothing to worry about so far
here is what I got: I put on the med windshield and hand covers. It made a difference but on the cold days running fast you will still need something more if it is below 10 degrees
i had both of them (800R Gade and XTX) in this last year. I thought the ski doo was great in the snow. With stock skis it still had a problem of the front end diving due to being farther forward than a Crossfire. I got rid of it for oil consumption and the shop couldnt get my carbs dialed in...
I learned the hard way on this also. My A arm bolt came out riding and the other side was loose. I called my dealer and yamaha said it was owner maintenance. I guess I am used to trucks after being out of the sport for soo long, not used to checking everything every time you go out after...
Hand warmers is Ski Doo, I can tell you first hand from owning both machines. The Yammy hand warmers suck in lack of better words. I know they work because the frost will melt on them. Front suspension I think it depends upon what you are doing? Hitting a approach and adjustability, I would say...
I called the shop and there is no shop notice from Yamaha. He told me to put loctite on the bolt before I put it back together. Another summer project for me I need to add. They put in a warranty request on the shock covers. I will add this to my list of checks before a ride. :o|
the issue is you have to take the hood off everytime you want to get something. I agree with saddlebags or skinz bag on the tunnel. I went with the skinz bag and all you have to do is keep things in a waterproof bag. things will get damp
SAT in MN, my right upper bolt came out and I noticed it riding around to do maintenance on it. After going through the front end I noticed the left was almost out as well. There was no locktite on any of the bolts. I was glad I had my tools with me at the cabin. The only thing that sucked was...
Hard driving and ditch banging I have gotten as low as 13.8 mpg now that it is broke in. When the motor was new I was getting 11-14 mpg. This last weekend in the michigan UP, I got 17 mpg. I like to feel the power so I have a hard time matching 18-20 in snowtrax magazine. Even with a 7 gallon...
I put the skinz bag on the back of mine but I think my mind is made up to go with the 10 gallon tank. It will not be in the way. I have seen the threads on this but what is the long term report from this? fuel caddies sound like ice bags???
In deep snow riding or side hilling, how much do the saddle bags get in the way of your foot? I have been holding off because I havent had a chance to see them on a sled. (I ride with all Doo guys)
I had my sliders changed out at the 500 mile service. The dealer just did it but since then I took the advice from others on this site "I left them alone" and they go to the wear line and stay there. I am on this site after having one of those 800R DOO Renegade that spent over 3 weeks this...
