It should be quick as long as the bearing is not seized to the shaft!
-remove secondary(14mm socket. Pay attention to all thrust washers and their positioning)
-remove bearing cover plate(4x 12mm socket)
- IMPORTANT this bearing has a locking collar. You must reach up under to the backside and...
Wow. So this past summer I fixed up an 07 rtx. It looked nice from the outside and said only 10000kms. I'm telling you everything I checked was worn or broken! There must have been. 020" play in these bushings. I have never once seen anything on this excellent site about those. Was surprised.
Hey what a great thread! As these sleds get higher mileage there are definitely things to look at.
How tight is your steering? I found there are two sets of bushings on the steering links that no one has ever mentioned.
After removing the battery box you will see two idler arms off of the...
Rebuild and most importantly revalve the rear shock.
Front shocks, go 2-3 clocks out from full hard on compression. This will help it corner much flatter. Depending on your riding style you might want more front end bite. I used shaper bars, a lot like snow trackers but I have not tried them...
Great video! Still don't understand why there is no grease fitting for the ski pivot bolt. This needs to come out every year as well.
Keep up the good work Mr Sled!
As Sasquatch mentioned above you have to be careful to not"overgrease" a bearing. They come from the factory with what looks like minimal grease for a reason.
The enemy to any bearing is heat and with the more grease in the bearing the more friction is created!
When greasing, remember just...
Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread. I too hated the drone.
I used to wear a full face old style snowmobile helmet with electric shield.
When I went to a motocross style helmet guess what? No more done! The open helmet with goggles didn't echo! No more annoying electric shield cord...
For me, it seems the more time I spend on the Apex the more enjoyable it gets. I just broke 4000kms on my '07 GT and sure the previous owner didn't use it much it was sitting in a heated garage since 2007, she's like a spring chicken!
I like doing little things to mine every year to make it...
Yes we have done a few trips in the west and I can say those PRO 800's are amazing. NO....they do not all make it down the hill. Between electrical issues and belt drive issues. Yes we left one for sure half way down the mountain in Revy that had either broken driveshaft or......The rental...
Cool but what is the advantage of going to an Axis setup if you can valve the stocker the same? Does the axis have a HI & LOW speed adjustment on the compression? That alone would be a huge advantage.
Do you sell the same dual rate spring as Hygear uses?
Hope I'm not hijacking but I am pretty particular about having good feedback from the front end in corners. I am running stock 2007 skis with I'm guessing 6" shaper bars. They do dart a little but it's not bad enough that I worry about it. Have you guys tried this setup? I am currently very...
So...to go to a 128 were you going to use a monoshock 2 rear skid? If so....are these much better than a revalved 121 with ohlins? Say a guy had to put a track on a 2007 anyways. Is it worth finding a newer 128 skid?
What sissy said....you have to get some weight off of those skis. I personally run a 2007 with the transfer rod at stock (middle) setting. I think I pulled up one(more ski pressure) on the limiter strap and I am running shaper bars which should not stop darting. I have slight issues when...
