I agree with Greenmachine, why do people on this board seem so ready to listen to "joe snowmobile" (with who knows what knowledge he has about engines and/or clutching) when he comes out and says something doesn't work. Lets listen to the experienced and knowledgeable sledders on this site that...
Shouldn't cause any problems with them unhooked that I can think of. I broke one last year and ran it that way untill the new one came in. I recall it only costing around $12.
Did you just put on the ECP air kit or clutching also ? If you just put the air kit on you're missing out on alot of performance that can be had with the right clutching to complement it. I agree with Mighty, let'em talk for awhile then show'em your tailight. Tell them you bought the 4-stroke...
If you wonder if the noise is from the weight/roller and/or the bolt that goes through the middle of the pin, just remove both and start the sled up. If the noise is gone you've found the source. The noise that I've heard sounds too "metallic" in nature to be caused by a plastic button hitting...
Since you're measuring voltage couldn't you wire in a resistor on a switch and turn it on and off ? You could then set the sensor to the higher voltage and use the resistor to return it to the stock setting. Use the switch to decide which voltage you want.
Did you get an owners manual with the sled ? Specifications should be listed in the back, find someone local and compare with his manual. Then you will know if the specifications are the same, or if you will have to find some other way to register it. Good luck.
Any good hardware store. Carb bowl screws are 4mm x 10mm, .7 pitch
While you're at it, the carb to intake boot screws are 4mm x 25mm, .7 pitch
Get allen head cap screws.
I have a friend with a wrecked Polaris and I believe it has the edge suspension. Chassis is junk in the front but the rear suspension was good. I think he would even cut the side of the tunnel out to use as a template. Let me know what you think. Roadrunner.
To all of you sledders out there who have said they never change bearings. I say pop off the seals on your bearings and take a look. You might be suprised at what you see. Even after one year they can look pretty bad. After 2 or 3 years all you have is some balls rolling around in very dried...
The other thing to remember about the Yamaha mountain ski is you can use your stock ski handles and carbides, which can further save you money. Stock carbides should be easier to find in stock.
Black John, when you set the center to center distance do you set it to the middle of the tolerance specification or to the tighter or looser specification ?
LB, PIAA regular wattage Xenon( 60/55 ) bulbs do put out more light than the stockers. Used one on my 98 SRX ( single bulb light )and it made quite a difference. They are more money but I think they're worth it. The RX-1 has two bulbs and works very well in stock form. I wouldn't risk using...
GN240Z, If you get the complete air kit, it includes spark plugs, jets, and springs for the carbs. Don't just get K&N's make sure you get them from Freddie. :yam:
I start mine monthly, with the 4-stroke, you don't mind starting the sled up in your garage because you don't have all the smoke. With my 2-strokes, I would fog them and leave them set untill fall. :4STroke:
They do make paint (vinyl dye) that can be used on the blue part of your seat to make it black. If the seat is properly prepped (cleaned) and you use a quality product it should hold up quite well.
You must be pretty good with a spray can if you can match the quality of the factory paint...
I wouldn't call using seafoam a band-aid approach. It goes to the root of the problem, that is, poor ring seal. Crankshaft pressure can come from only a couple of places. Blowby at the rings, or through worn valve stem guides. I doubt it's the guides. Carbon can build up and effect the ability...
