Sorry, no.
However, if you've got the time, I'm sure several of us are interested in any story that ends with "... and therefore I need the paint code for a current model sled." :-)
2011 Apex Standard - Also having occasional problems getting it into reverse. Particularly when on an incline.
I wait until completely stopped and at idle per the manual...
2011 Standard Apex
200+ miles on mix of trail conditions, but mostly rough stuff.
*VERY* happy with it so far, but this is only my second season riding and I'm coming from a 2002 Arctic Cat ZR500, so I'm guessing I'd be impressed by any 2011 model sled. Really like the mid-range and...
2011 Standard Apex. About 30 miles on it just around my property (trails not open here yet).
Not a single issue, other than my face hurting when done riding from the constant smile...
Please do keep us posted.
I'm about to buy one, so don't mean to be a grump... But the words below the graph belie the question in my mind: What does the graph look like if we divide by weight?
Great to see the dyno numbers, and makes me feel better about writing a BIG check (somehow that graph doesn't make my wife...
I think your explanation covers a lot of whats going on in terms of the increases.
In 2007 the least expensive Apex (an Apex ER) had a list price of U.S. $10,199. In October of 2005 (around when they had to be thinking about pricing the 2007 I assume), there were 118.45 Yen to the U.S...
Thanks all, particularly for the local folks posting and sending PMs. VERY helpful.
My local dealer is Excell Motorsports in Hubbardsville, NY. Aaron has been great.
Couple of PMs from Upstate / Central NY riders suggesting the standard Apex with a shock job if needed (HYGEAR mentioned...
And they know this based on how the pre-production sleds dyno'd or on how they expect the post-production units to run?
If the former, why not let out the dyno numbers? If the latter, why tell people this when they don't know it is true?
Not busting your chops - but by telling you this...
I should add that I rode a pre-production standard apex and LOVED it. I do NOT know how to compare it to a 2011 XTX or SE, nor the 2010.... That is, in part, what NUMBERS are useful for. But if the numbers are not reliable, why should the subjective feel be?
As someone who is thinking of buying one of these sleds (and likely will....), this is a bit irksome.
Yamaha is happy to use viral marketing for the 2011 apex. They want people like me to see youtube "dealer first impressions" and to read pre-production reviews on sites like this one, on...
Chris Reid's knowledge and experience are hard to beat, so a lot of weight has to go into that opinion. That written, what I don't know is whether his idea of "groomed trail" fits with the reality of what I ride on most of the time (which includes tight and twisty junk, squeezing between trees...
Ignorance on my part... These, I assume, are HP numbers from the crank?
Do the Ski-Doo and Yamaha systems communicate the HP to the snow close enough to each other that comparing crank HP makes sense?
Sorry for the dumb question - just trying to understand.
Thanks.
Congrats!
I'm leaning towards the standard model but I really like the XTX - If we can stop smiling long enough, let's compare notes in January of 2011!

Just spoke with my dealer, whom I really like and trust.
Based on his knowledge of me and the area, he thinks regular Apex. He thinks for my purposes the mono-skid, with a HyGear re-valve, is a better suspension than the XTX 144" skid. Given his experience with the area and knowledge of...
Given the amount of money involved I reserve the right to change my mind more often than a 16-year-old girl shopping for a prom dress...
Right now I'm leaning towards a 2011 Apex XTX in Candy Red with a 4" riser on the steering (I'm 6' 2").
Thanks for all the comments. :rocks...
Hi all,
Went to the Syracuse "Snowmobile Sneak-Peak" tonight. All four makers there. Spoke to three different Yamaha Reps and got three answers to a question I'm struggling with.
The question:
44 year old relatively new rider with dirt-bike and dual-sport motorcycle experience. Also...
More food for thought:
Above is a sticky where the author notes purchasing a "1974 GPX433 which retailed at $1499.00".
Since 1974 inflation has averaged (roughly) 4.33% per year (based on U.S. consumer price index). Depending upon which inflation calculator I use, that sled should cost...
