The latest AM Snow has a good article and dyno run on the motor. 163 HP peak and 110 lbs of torque. They also compare the numbers to all the big 2 strokes. The new Apex motor kills them in the torque department with over 100lbs from 6000rpm to peak. Here is a pic, sorry for the quality.

There is also an article about the EXUP in that same magazine. The EXUP actually increases airflow till 7,800. Which is when the EXUP is fully open, from there the engine produces the same numbers.

When Amsnow does a Dyno run on an engine, it is usually 1 page with the graph and a summary of the updates. The 2011 Apex engine has a total of 3.5 pages, which leads me to believe Yamaha hit a home run with the rework. ;)!
 
I'm about to buy one, so don't mean to be a grump... But the words below the graph belie the question in my mind: What does the graph look like if we divide by weight?

Great to see the dyno numbers, and makes me feel better about writing a BIG check (somehow that graph doesn't make my wife feel any better about it). In the end, though, we smash the paddle to the bar and head for the next corner. HP is part of it, but so is traction, cornering and weight (and ergos and comfort and sound....).

Hope the '11 apex comes through on all counts, including Yamaha quality.

Dont worry about it, i demoed them here in ny in old forge last march and they are insane!! Buy it and ride it, for get the #'s
 
Check where the torque is at at 3,500 rpm (clutch engagement) compared to the two smoke's, Two smoke's not even on the map! I tried to point out how important a huge power band is to pull and acceleration on another thread, Went wright over there head's!! But i guess what goes on under 10,500 doesn't matter LOL. That big fat 2,000+ rpm power band is the exact reason a 150 hp four stroke will stomp a lighter 150 hp two stroke. TORQUE IN A BIG WAY!!!!!!!

Exactly. the throttle mashing days are over. Ease into the flipper on this baby and FEEL THE TORQUE.
 
The Torque the smoker's make at 3,500 is not even worth mentioning, Just over idle Torque number's on the PEX requires around 6,000 RPM on the smoker's to match. The new PEX will pull stump's if you can get it hooked up, Probably the reason for the extra foot print. If i were buying one it would be the XTX for this reason. :flag:
