I change that bearing on my venture every two years. It’s actually a pretty easy job and my experience is that whenever that bearing goes... driveshaft moves and destroys speed sensor and chain case and other parts ... which are crazy expensive for all brands.
These bearings spin at a screaming...
Also be aware you want them with cold weather grease... as a 6205 bearing from an industrial supplier may not have cold weather grease in them. .. so be sure before you order or purchase. Local industrial supplier I use has most snowmobile and snowblower bearings in stock. Same brands they sell...
think of a rivnut as a larger diameter rivet that a bolt threads into, There a special tools for installing them....similar to a rivet gun....but many people are using a bolt/nut tool. I installed mine like above post from Elton Buss...drilled 4 small pilot holes...used a small skinny...
2011 venture... stock were gone in 1000km.....duponts have approx. 14,000km and lots of life left in them. When they do go, I'll be replacing them with duponts.
Yes my friend has them on his expedition.....work good......we weren't confident we could make them work on mine.
I agree....they don't need to be up front.....long as it puts snow in skid.....track will circulate it real good.
Note: Hangers for keeping them up weren't too my liking so I used...
I just installed BRP rail mount reversible scratchers on my RsVenture. Have done approx. 250 km so far. I had the skid out for an unrelated issue ......so I figured it was the time to try them. Had to have a friend add some height to rails in order to mount them. I'm quite pleased so far.
I...
I put a Yamaha Y-Y-Y in my 2011 reventure and love it. Engages lower and much smoother. Found stock primary spring a little abrupt and bad for backing into garage. Also find it re reverses better in snow, as it used to spin a little with stock.
This is a shot in the dark....guess.
I had a Honda Accord once....calliper used to stick....put new one one......no difference......turned out the flex hose was collapsed inside. So using the brake caused enough pressure to push piston out......but the fluid wouldn't return to let the piston go...
I know many people with Yamaha or Honda tracked blowers......quiet...powerful....and reliable after 20 years. They are awesome. Expensive .... but for heavy snow areas, these are the machine for job. Neighbour bought a new Yamaha 3 winters ago. Yamaha 's weren't available in Canada for 7 or 8...
Rs venture. I have over 10,000 km on my belt. I do what Travis suggested above......fine sandpaper on a block with a handle....light buff with engine idling. Also take cover off primary and blow all belt dust out....crazy what comes out of there. We do this in my friends garage and he has some...
2011 venture.....all my bearings are remove able.......I repack every year......replaced every bearing around 9500kms(except chain case).....couple were rough....but most were good.......got my bearings at a reputable bearing supplier.....they have them with grease for cold weather. Did it for...
I'm by no means an expert on this....but I think I read on this site that sticky starter solenoid a can cause stator to burn up pretty quick. Might be worth looking into.....from my reading staters aren't chep....and a fair job to tackle.
Again, you can't take my word on this as gospel...but im...
I'm thinking it's just a matter of time before someone adapts a new drive stem to snowmobiles and does away with current clutch system. Didn't they do it with side x side? Just dreaming I guess.
not sure about Nytro...I have a Venture...had to remove set screws on back of bearing ....and short shaft bolted onto driveshaft that the speedo sensor detects....as bearing wouldn't slide over it.
