Hey, Just bought an 05 vector, and was wondering what I got to do to get this thing to ride better, it kicks back hard in the stutters. other than that its a gem goes thru the trails damn near as good as my sx, and is just about as fast!

if it still has the torsion spring stoppers on the skid rails remove them. They tend to cause the sled to buck.

If it has the original rear track shock it is probably junk. Either upgrade to a rebuildable gas shock or find a low miles used one. Couple of guys on this site sell good used parts (Travis Hibsham and LANEO)
I have another option but you'd have to PM me for details......too long to post here.

what was the original shock?, I have a fox shock on it now.
I don't know what the original shock was, but that Fox should be rebuildable......

The original rear track shock was a non-rebuildable hydraulic shock. The Fox that's on there could be re-valved to give you a slower rebound (less kick back).

Any aluminum bodied shock is rebuildable.

I have a 05 vector with 11,000 miles.. It also bucks bad.... Well I've ordered a clicker shock from one of our members and expect it tues. So I went out and removed the factory one.. I can easily push it in and pull it out with very little effort. I think it "SHOT" looking forward to trying the better shock.. MM.

well, I got back from adjusting and a lil ride from the weekend and found that it dosnt seem to buck anymore since I removed the anti bottoming stoppers, I did some other adj. too but couldnt really test it out ,because the trails were so damn good..errrr orr, it just flat out rode a lot better!Im amazed by how much gitup this sled has,103 mph down the trail? really? and I read on here that it only gets up to the mid 90's. got it up to 111 on hard pack, What would it do if I put a clutch kit in er?and carb springs and a header etc.... This is one fine machine. It stays right with my piped 700sx, and that's been radared at 107 mph!

The speedo on my 05 is consistently 10% high vs. true GPS speed. Just FYI is all. If you read thru the pages in the RS forum I think you will find that:
1. A clutch kit will help corner to corner but that's about it
2. Carb springs? - depends who chimes in. Same as CR10EK plugs.
3. Stock exhaust system is pretty darn good as it is. Minimal gains.
The sled pulls hard to 80 then it's a slow gain from there. Awesome, bulletproof (with the upgraded CCT) motor that will run forever!

I believe your seeing them numbers. I have been using a Garmin rino 120 GPS for a few years now, and my 05 stock best was 107 mph, then a put 96 studs and a clutch kit (shockwave adjustable and a different spring) in, and I'm seeing on a long pull 110-113 tops so far @ 8600 rpm. This sled is sneaky fast, your friends will beat you in the twisty. But on the long pulls your going to be coming up on them like a 68 Buick Electra 225! and pass them and keep pulling away! till the next round of twisty's.

You asked....I replied with 9 years of experience and almost 15,000 miles on my Vec. Enjoy your sled!
