Riding in the Gaspe last week, my oil light came on a few times after I started the sled. It was after we were running fairly hard for a bit (constant 60-80MPH), then we'd stop for a few mins, fire it back up and the light would come on.
The first time, I turned it off to check the level and it was 3/4 the way to the top. Put it back together, ride down the trail for a minute and it would go off.
We tried changing the dipstick/sensor from my buddies, but mine still had the problem.
Anyone ever see that before? No error codes being thrown for low oil pressure or anything...

A buddy of mine is having the same problem on his 05' RX1. Any help would be great.

I'm guilty of the stupid mistake of forgetting to connect the sensor....

No, I'm not threading in the dipstick...just set it on top after cleaning it off. I've got almost 12000 miles on the sled and this is the first time it's happened.

That sensor is activated by heat when the oil is low the entire tank is warmer and it triggers the light. Have you checked for proper circulation? with teh sled running peak in the opening and look for oil swirling around. If its full then check the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter make sure its got contivity.

It's not heat activated...otherwise it wouldn't come on when the engine is cold and the level is down (which it does).
Check the wiring that goes to the plug...maybe there's a rub through or a broken wire. I have seen the sensor fail before but you mentioned you tried your buddy's...

Thanks guys.
Yes Dok...I was going to have a look at the wires. But seems to me they sit pretty freely there...but I'll check.

I will have to check...I won't be able to until tomorrow. But the light does go off after I ride for a minute...does that mean anything for this?

the oil light is level only. if you have verified there is the proper amount of oil you can drive the machine. the dipstick works off of electrical resistance. the fluid creates a ground. simplely asking did you top off the fluid. you siad it was almost full, why not try it filled.

I will top it up...it was the last day in the Gaspe and I obviously wasn't carrying oil (part of the reason for buying a 4-stroke). I will top it up and see how it is after.
Thanks.
Thanks.
