09 Phazer GT studding

My wifes sled 09 Phazer GT. She wants to stud it. I got 96 woodys gold diggers 1.075in.
She is only 135lbs geared up and is not real aggessive of a rider.
My question is:
Do I need to install tunnel protectors given the info above?

Everything I read said that we need tunnel protecters.... Having said that I just installed 96 woodys the same ones you have and being the lazy @$$ that I am sometimes I didn't install the protectors and as yet I haven't hit the tunnel. I had a couple bad landings from jumps and stupidity. I'm also close to 250lbs all geared up.
THIS IS IN NO WAY A RECOMDATION, just saying I haven't had a problem yet. Mines a 2010 RTX

not sure, when I got it it had been converted to a 144 track. I imagine it was the stock track before. sorry couldn't be more help.

See my post about this, just posted today. Pretty sure the studs are 1.075 or 1.080 in mine and they hit when I bottomed out coming off a field approach. Prevoious owner didn't use oem tunnel protectors and now have dents where the protectors stopped short of the bumper curved section... I'd like to know how thick the oem protectors are and a pic of some installed.

mine has factory track and is studded, no protectors. i dont see them tearing it up but i do plan on installing a old set of slides as protectors when i swap the track out.

NEW slides at 3/4" thick are NOT tall enough. Need to be about 1" thick to do the job. If you never bottom out the rear of the skid then no worries... If you are riding hard enough you will eventually bottom the skid out.

If studs are 1/4" to 3/8" above the lugs then wouldn't 3/4" be lots of clearance in the case of bottoming out?
As I said before I haven't hit my tunnel and have bottomed out a few times hard without any protectors installed. ( have them, just never installed them yet).

You would think, but the track doesn't have lugs over every track clip, those nubs over the windows are are only about .330" tall. Now, using the recommended 1.080 tall stud: 1.080-.330 real lug height over the track windows =.75 clearance needed with no extra clearance for the studs...throw in a little track deflection and they will hit, my protectors are .75" and have scratches the tunnel at the rear just in front of where the curved bumper section rivets to the tunnel. I am installing some old .990" tunnel protectors off a Sx-R today...

Just called Hauck performance, they confirmed the same thing, 3/4" protectors needed another 1/8-1/4" to keep studs from hitting in the very back, they recommended riveting some thin 1/4" thick sheeting cut to size and riveted to the stock protectors at the back for a quick fix. He did note that the suspension then bangs into the top tunnel slightly then but didn't seem to be an issue.

Makes sense...are the rear suspension the exact same between the GT and RTX ??? I have the RTX if that makes any difference.

Same suspension just different/stiffer shocks in the RTX
