So, after cleaning my sled last night I noticed the clearance between my spring (on my front right shock) and my top arm was getting close to touching. it's not touching yet, but getting close. On the other side there seems to be more clearance. So, I think I tweaked my front end a little. My question is....Does anyone sell an already modified sub frame? with extra supports and painted?? I saw you can buy the grizz reinforce kits, which are great... if you own a welding machine......I looked on ulmers site last night and couldn't find anything. Any help would be great....is it alright to keep riding the sled like this?? the skis don't seem to be towed in or out.....thanks

PM Grizztracks. He might be able to help you out. That's where I got my reinforced subframe. It's holding up great too.

You don't need to own a welder, if you can remove the subframe you can get it welded in then paint/powder coated. It should be fine to ride the way it is now and do it in the summer

Subframe

I'd call yamaha and see if they will cover it for you. Mine is out of warranty but this is a known issue and the part has been modified by them several times to fix the issue.

I think Yamaha should at at least provide you the latest subframe free of charge (part cost is about $650 based on what my dealer quoted me yesterday)

From their you can have the kit welded in and install the subframe. IMO this should have been recalled by yamaha as a safety issue given the large number of events.

You really think Yamaha will come clean for a subframe????

Doubt it, but I'm trying hard to get mine covered. IMO this is a big cover up on there behalf for a poor design and ultimate safety issue.

Mine is like that, but I don't notice one bit. It bugs me, but as far as handling goes, it hasn't changed a thing.

Just ride it! Subframe is a big job!

align the skis and ride it till you want to throw down the ching to replace it....

Put a big prybar between the A-Arms and bend it back. You will be surprised how easy it is. Watched my buddy do his Nytro that way.

You may have bent the upper a-arm look at the sub-frame first take some pics and post on here ..I've bent my upper a-arms a few times...

Ya the front end on my xtx is like how yours is Tyloooor - pretty sure I did it hitting an old ice fishing hole at near top speed. I can't tell the difference in how the sled works today vs. the day I picked it up - aside from the fact that I'm bitter that it's some how tweaked. I chose not to bend mine back (in fear that it would simply bend again and worse). Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get worse - bend it if you need to. I hit a big #*$&@ mogul out on the lake where a guy made an ice racing track last season and it didn't get any worse. Grizz told me a year back that the main tell tale of a tweaked subframe is a wobbly centre gusset - but you can always pm him or look up the pics on his webpage and compare it to what you have and go from there.
