Has anyone done any side by side comparison with the old 1" track that was on the 03 RX-1 compared to the 05 that had the 1.25" Ripsaw. I'm only talking in terms of speed on the top end. I know on the bottom, the ripsaw would surely dominate. Did you lose any top-end from the Ripsaw? Boy, this place is quiet....

Ripsaw was average 2-3 mph slower.
Results could vary depending on conditions, machine set-up, ect...
This is comparing 121"x1" Predator to 121" x 1.25" Ripsaw on stock RX-1's.

I initially had the old track on my 03 and then switched to the ripsaw. The comparison isn't even close, a couple of my buddies I ride with have the 03's with the stock track, out of the hole i gain 2-3 sled lengths purely from the traction difference between the two tracks. On top end they can't pass me so that should sum up if there was any difference in speed. That finger track is plainly just not a good track for the Rx-1, I gave the finger track to another buddy to try on his 97-Sx700 and it works really well for him on that sled.
I put 144 studs up the middle on the ripsaw and to be honest it is to many. That track just hooks up so well, i will probably only put 108 in the apex up the middle.
Ya, it sure is quiet here, i can see the tumbleweed going by!!!!!

Snowaholic, you mean 96 studs for a 121" track. That's all I'm putting in mine when it comes in. 96 1.325" megabytes.
Viper34, thanks for the response.

No, I think he means 144 up the middle. Lots of guys do that on a 121's but you really dont need that many with a rip saw. I think the rip saw is a great trail riding track and I dont run any studs in mine. It sure does suck off trail though. ===SRXSRULE===

108 is how many you need in a 136 inch skid to replicate 96 in a 121 inch skid, 2 studs per row.

Yup, sorry to many different sleds on the mind, not sure whether i will go 96 or 120 still haven't decided. I think 96 will be enough with the ripsaw, have to have studs I used to run with no studs but with the tight trails around my area they are a must.
Out of curiousity? How many times a day do you guys go through the 06 brochure, I do at least twice a day. It's going to be a long summer.

Best track I've ever used is the 9830. I have one on my 03 RX-1 and it was awesome.

I don't anymore because the Attak I ordered doesn't look good in the brochure. But it sure did in person :ORCSnowaholic said:Out of curiousity? How many times a day do you guys go through the 06 brochure, I do at least twice a day. It's going to be a long summer.

I have an 03 with the finger track and an 05 with the Ripsaw IMO the 03 is much better hooking up on ice than the ripsaw is (no studs on either one) that is the only condition however that it dominates in all oher conditions the ripsaw rocks i have a little better top end on my 03 but i think thats because the idler wheels on my 05 suck all the small ones are either frozen or barely turn at all waiting to see what they do with the 06 before i replace them and have the same probem all over again.

That's why if I get My attack I'm going with a shorter lug track with a longer stud. I'll problaly got 9838 with a 1.340 Hornet 2 per lug to start. See how she hooks Might drill it for 3 per so I can easily add an extra if I need it

I had put a ripsaw 1.25 on my 03 and then found out that I could not stud it with 1.325 studs because they would hit , but that problem only seems to be with the 03's. yamaha must have allowed for more room when they started using the ripsaw as a standard track.
I've got a 9830 1" with 144 hornets down the middle on my '02 Viper and can't keep the back end calm while running the grades up in the UP so I was thinking of switching to a pre-drilled 1.25 Ripsaw with 96 down the middle thinking this will help. Does anyone have any suggestions? Besides the grades I really like the Predator track.
