The ones with the D&D mods are really suspect as Cat warned guys not to alter as from the factory they were set up right on the edge.

Local Dealer said same thing. People are just installing these Y pipes with no other modifications. Cat has these near or on the edge as it is. So far none have come back broke but a few are experiencing issues. He said they look to have D&D Y pipes, pipes or a combination of both.

I can wait till my buddies buy one...they have been very unhappy since I turbo'd my rx1...Now they will be even more upset....
Did you see the latest American Snowmobiler? Cross Fire 1000 weights less than a Phazer Mt. Does this seem right? I'm sure it weights less than a Apex or Attack but not a phazer.

Are they quoting what AC claims it weighs or did American Snowmobiler actually weigh it?

Maxsled weighed them with everything. The Xfire 1k weighed in at 620... Definately more than the Phazer mt. But different sleds too.
What I find VERY mysterious is that Cat people are all of a sudden very quiet about weight and picking on Yamaha's... Perhaps because they now hold the distinction of having the heaviest trail sled And it's a 2 stroke. All their new models are beefed up.
Cat I think has released a much superior product compared to the Firecat series. They've done a good job. The Firecat series to me was very poor. I still wouldn't buy one and I do believe they have much more in the way of first year woes than other makes.

Not sure if I take any of the magazines info too seriously. I live here where most of the magz are published, Minnesota......They tend to always favor Cat and Polaris. They always seem to find some fault in the Yammies. It's like they are trying to curtail their sales somewhat so they don't completely overtake the local sled mfg's here in the US. Many of my friends ride Polaris and Cats and from what I have witnessed in all my 43 yrs. I think I'll stay with Yamaha. 'nuff said

Umm, no it was Maxsled most recently. Theres a couple threads floating around about it.

I think the way that Maxsled weighed the sleds has been by far the fairest yet as they were all full of liquids and fuel. Actually I thought Yamaha looked good considering the four stroke disadvantage in weight.

I'm not going to bash cat, yes the new F's are heavy and to me ugly but the adressed an issue from the firecats, which is they were built to light. I still own my F7 and it was rediculously fast, and probably has the toughes suspension out, but I had to gusset and rerivet my tunnel after the first year because it was shaking apart. These new sleds don't have those issues, yes they are heavy but they are still super fast. Yamaha is heavy to so lets not get on AC for being heavy because they did what people wanted and stiffen them up. The reason I like this site so much is the fast amount of knowledge and the no bashing, lets keep it that way. JMO.

I love how people are all over this weight issue. they make 15 pounds feel like 200.... think of how much 15 lbs actually weighs.......

Not sure what your problem is but if you look in the most recent American Snowmobiler (Feb 07) Its clearly shown that the M1000 (not XFire) weighting in at 534 all fluids except for fuel (11g) Gallons V's the Phazer Mt 543 all fluids except fuel (8.1g).

The way I look at is this, They all have to be good otherwise they wouldnt still be in business, Remember at one time you had over 250 manufactorers of sleds now you have 4 they have all proven themselves at one thing or another. That being said I will still ride my yammys.
