I have heard them talking about it but I don't see how a reflash of the ECU could raise the boost. And just adding more fuel just makes it fat. Plus going from 172 supposed hp to 230 hp on that motor would require a lot of head, shim and other things to allow it to handle that.
We gain 50 hp by adding a turbo at 5lbs but to raise it beyond that is a much bigger undertaking.

I think with race gas and a different fuel pump I could run ten pounds of boost. So the bigger kit is like 10 at the very low end but, I'm not sure on that. But man I wouldn't need that much. I'm fine with 5 pounds. I might change it to 6.

i have a coworker who has a new 1100 turbo cat. they reflashed it. changed the pipe size on the intake, a can and a couple of other small things nothing motor related. put it on the dyno and it was 248. but with that, there is another mutual friend that has a 210hp supercharged apex. he rode the cat and said his apex will still beat it. have yet to race.

Having just come off a reflashed Cat Turbo and having owned a Viper I can tell you the Viper in no way will ever stay with the Cat

I knew that the turbo cat has a lot of things they can do to add mad hp. So I was thinking I was going to lose. But I figured I would give it a shot anyway. As I have well over 1000 miles I'm used to it. So it does not feel as fast as it really is. After beating the turbo cat with 230hp I figured mine was fast. And after I get the fuel perfect and the boost to six, I think I will be totally happy!
Mine however won't lift the skis to 90 mph however it handles the trails perfect! And even though it's would be cool to ride a wheelie, I want the handling. But It would be cool!

After riding it really hard through some powder and jumping and just hard trail riding. My wife with her Vector riding relaxed as she does, with minimal wot. After around 100 miles I only added one more gallon than she did. So I'm getting really good gas mileage!

x2...the 3 hole yami motor will make more torque then the twin cat but the cat can take 350hp with only head studs and rest of the motor STOCK and the compression is totally different on the cat I think its like 2lbs is equal to 10hp where as the yami is 1lb is 10hp...you put the 7-10k into the cat turbo that would only get you 270-330hp in the yami and you would easy be at 500-600hp and I don't care how you slice it if you cant hook it up on the ground you are the loser everytime!HONDAFIXER said:Having just come off a reflashed Cat Turbo and having owned a Viper I can tell you the Viper in no way will ever stay with the Cat

Very true, that's why I put a 1.6 lug track on. Mine hooks up really good. I thought that the cat was running like 12 pounds of boost. Either way I think that six pounds will be plenty! If I lose a race at least I will know it will take a lot of hp! Then it won't really matter cause then I'm suppose to lose. But I wouldn't leave. I would go talk to the guy and B.S.

The cat turbo will spin badly if only studded for trail,i have min. studs,154 down the middle and what woody's recommened 1.325 on 1.25 track, and it is barley able to stop you on ice,and in no way be able to hook on anything hard, just because someone saids he has 230 hp don't meanhe does, and a lot of guys don't know how to set up anything, that kind of hp and torque requires good clutching and gearing, and cat is out to lunch on both lol, mine has TD stage 4 tune v-19 and it is a reflash, stock cat at 10-11 lbs makes 177 hp a reflash only is about 14lbs or 210 hp w/out a muffler and 220 with muffler, add a outlet pipe and another 7hp that is if its 2.5" stuff,if it goes to 3" pipe hp goes up,everything is in the flash,if you had similar hp between the yammie and cat,my vote goes to Yamaha, better power to the track,it don't matter what the crank makes, but what can you get to the ground, than hook up,heck my lxr is a shortie w/1.25 rip and best I have seen on snow is 112 gps on eco tune 220hp,these sleds are not as fast as an apex turbo w/similar hp,the apex is lower to the ground and has better aero dynamics, but in the trails they are more fun!

Good stuff....can't really disagree with anything that you said. The guy I raced had a crap load of studs and seamed like he got out pretty good. I just got out better. I was constantly looking back at him and it seemed that he had a good start. I don't have studs, but I do have a ice ripper 1.6 cobra track. I wouldn't think I would have better traction than all the studs he had. Maybe he had to much hp. All I know is that his friend said he had 230 hp and he had a trail tune...it was an XF and looked like a 137 and coupled. I did see something in a magazine about that trail tune and it said 230 hp and clutching came with it. So it should of been set up right. But who knows he never came back. He even left his friends there. They waited for him to come back for like ten minutes. Then they left and went to another bar. So who knows where he ended up. I would assume he was pissed! He did not know mine was turbo either. So maybe he thought he lost to a stock Viper.

cat 350 hp with headstuds ?? I doubt it. Stock turbo wont do it. Build em both up to 350 hp and lets see reliability and dollars to dough nuts.
