Hi Guys - I have an 04 warrior and I'm in the process of changing the swaybar from stock to 13mm. Bought it used.
Unfoturnately, it looks as if the stock bushings going through the chassi are NOT going to work with the 13mm bar. The inside diameter is too large.... After having read all about the bar and making the change, I don't recall hearing that the larger pioneed bushing kit was required on anything other than an 03 rx-1. What's the deal? Do you need the bushing kit from pioneer on the 04 warrior as well?
According to Pioneer's website, this isn't the case....help!

If the inside diameter is too large, then the bar should fit, but way too loose. This right?
As I recall, some of the EARLY 13mm bars (maybe they were 11 or 12's though...) were made to fit using stock 03 bushings - ie, a direct upgrade for 03 10mm bars. If this is the case, then you'll need stock 03 bushings AND update-03 links to make it all fit.
This would be too bad, because those early bars had a tendency to break at the end because the splined shaft was too small for the amount of torsion. It also means that you'll need to buy a bunch of 03 OEM parts, which will bump your cost up to MORE than the cost of a new-type 13mm bar.

03 had the 10mm bar with the thick bushings, you need the thin bushings from a 04+ to make that bar work, I jsut did it to mine this fall. Nice upgrade!

Hi LB - hope you're right....I actually got the links that go with this bar too. So sounds like I might just need a set of stock 03 bushing to make this work! Thanks.

Question for you: What is the LENGTH of the links that it came with? Are they as long as your warrior links? Or are they shorter? If they are the same length, then you'll get the same front end performance as you would with the 04+ 13mm bar, just with the reduced durability. If they are shorter, then your front end performance will be somewhere between stock and 12mm -- ie, you might not notice a difference, but if you do, it will be marginal.

saway bar
no bushing requerd stock ones will work just fine as the stock sway bar has a 13 mm ends and tapers down after the bushing surface. been there dont that to many times to talk about.

Sorry Black John, LB is right...no taper to the bar, so this must be a very early version for the 03. Stock 03 bushings are needed to make it work.
LB - she's installed (got some stock bushings from a friend today) and will get a work out tomorrow..about 10" of snow in the forcast for parts of Ontario, as you likely already know. In any event, the links are the 'longer' ones from 04 on, so it should work like a proper 13mm bar.
Out of curiousity, how serious was the failure rate on these bars? Obviously they changed them after 03, but were there really many documented breaks?
Thanks again.

I still run a stock 10 mm bar with 3500 miles on it and it hasnt broken. I lengthened the stock links to 80mm . But I also run longer Walker Evans sno-x shocks with straight rate springs.

I've never heard of a failure of a STOCK 10MM BAR. Only of the aftermarket BIG bars. The reason for this is that with a 10MM bar, the middle of the bar twists easier than the ends. With a big bar with small ends (ie, the diameter of the middle of the bar is greater than the diameter of the ends), well, you know what they say about the links in a chain, right?
WB: Regarding documented failures.... Yes, there were many. However, there was an updated big bar for 03 links, I think they tempered the ends of the bar differently. Still not ideal, but better than nothing. Cross your fingers that you've got the updated ones.

If it is the bar like I got from Pioneer Performance it takes new bushings. The stock ones wont work. There is no taper to the shaft. Also the ends are a lot longer & I think after 700 miles that with the longer ends I have more front end roll than I did with the stock 03 set up with short ends.

My bar from PP also has no taper and needed the thin bushings to work. I also have the longer links too, 75mm I think?
On the little time I have had on my sled it does a good job of holding the front down although I still have a few more tweaks to the GYTR shocks to make her right.

Yeah I am holding off judgement until I get the rest dialed in. I have so much power now, with the weight transfer rod at minimum I still cant keep the ski's on the ground on a straight away. I pulled the limiter strap down 1 notch but its not enough. I just came home last night from UP. making a lot of changes tonight and going back up Tuesday.

That is half my problem, the weight transfer of the zx2 is awesome and I like to power through corners so I may have to adjust that as well.
Yamadog - the beast running real good then?

The beast is back. I am at my tailors right know having all of the arms on my shirts and coats lengthened. It pulls & pulls & pulls & ......... Did 270 miles yesterday in the UP and did not want to stop.
Anyone hooked on heroine, crack, pot........ never rode a big block 4 stroke - they would give that crap up in a minute. - This is the biggest high you can experience.
I think I am done breaking things now I can get down to dialing her in. I broke the front pivot arm on the monoshock completely off where it mounts to the slide rails on a ride on tuesday. that wiped out the mud flap & frame, both heat shields on the Y pipes in the tunnel and tore off both extended tunnel protectors I had installed to protect the Hauck GYT-R-DUN pipe, not to mention what it did to the pipe.
I guess it wouldn't be fun if it were easy.
