'14 Viper SE really loose handlebars. Anyone else?

Ok, my nut had about 4 threads left before it would've fallen off. Removed the nut, applied red locktite and reinstalled. Hope that fixes it. To gain access just remove all the push pins holding the rubber boot to the sled. Use a 17mm socket with small extension to remove nut. Thanks everyone.

Make SURE you lock tight it. Force a drop or two on the bottom of the threads if you don't want to take the nut off.

Took the nut all the way off and used red locktite inside nut. Rode 100 miles today and seems to be holding.

Thanks for the help guys. Here are my pics to help anyone else.

On the right side of sled take off the rubber boot as shown. Pull out plastic push pins.

Turn steering to left to expose 17mm nut in triangle cutout. Tighten nut and your good to go.

At end of Handel bars I went from 2-1/2" play to just 5/8".

2014 have the same lock nut. But they do not work to good.

just whent out to tighten mine as i had 3"-4" slop after todays ride. got it all apart for cleaning while i was at it. Put the socket on and whent to twist it, the entire bolt spins along with the nut.... not sure what is going on there and i wasnt about to remove the rad and airbox to get a better look. Big ride planned for tomorrow, but I guess I'll be canceling and making a warranty trip to my dealer later on in the week. How is the bottom of the shaft assembled? One pice down with a threaded rod welded or fastened somehow to the bottom of the steering column then the nut tieing the plate together? having a hard time wrapping my head around how any of that hardware could be "stripped"

I used a flat head screw driver covered with a pice of card board and put pressure on the side of the bolt (to hold it from turning) folcruming off of the triangle hole to turn the nut with a gear wrench. Don't use anything to squish the threads

adams can you message me more info on this. I tightned a riding partners M8000 earlier in the season with no issues. Now mine is doing this. I can't ride tomorrow with it like this and just assumed mine was buggered. If i can fix it with a different method that would be awsome

Hard to explain but here it goes :
While turning the nut push down on steering post ( on bottom of post that ball joint fits in a pocket so it doesn't spin ) and tighten the nut ... You will feel it fall in to place ... Hope this helped ....

We did had the same issue when installing the MTX tripod bars on the XTX SE we could not tighten the nut even though we pushed down on the steering shaft, the entire ball join would spin on the flat sides. Its kinda a one time deal and very easy to round it off. What we had to do was take a old wrench and then I did some careful grinding to make it thinner and also narrower on the forks of the wrench so that it would fit around the flat spots on the ball joint on the bottom of the shaft. with the tool made it tightened right up.

thanks for the info fellas. i was able to pul down on my riser from below while straddling my hood and twisting my socket at the same time lol. intsalled some red loctite and am now good to go for todays ride. damn i love this place!

Is this a recall? My 2016 xtx is sloppy but it's not from the ball joint, it's from the block that bolts through the chassis with the 10mm bolt . The nut and bolt are tight but there is still slip up and down and side to side in the steering.

Mine has play left to right and up and down I will tighten as mentioned above for the left to right play will this cure the up and down play in the steering also?

No it won't , mine is super tight and there is still play between the "block" and chassis
