15000 Grand

I would have done $15,000 if the sled was boosted. Hell I would have $22,000 in just a stock sled and turbo kit ALONE. That's nuts. Too bad too. I was really looking forward to trying out a Apex XTX. Not even going to ride one know.

If I could afford it, or more like justify it, I'd give the 14,399 they want for a apex xtx. Take last years apex ltx and stretch it to 144, make all of the changes Yamaha made, and you would have a 20000 dollar sled. To me it doesn't sound all that bad, just can't justify it with 4 kids to feed right now. Thing perk up in the trucking biz and I will think about it. Maxdlx

I for one don't mind spending money on something that really meets my needs, but unfortunately in my case, Yami missed the target with this one. With likely only a minimal power increase and nothing more than a "cadillac" trail sled.... I can't say I have any interest in this one. As others have said- $15K and factory warranted boost... now we're talking.... this thing- no thanks.... Guess I'll just have to try that new 800 Etec and keep the Nytro. Probably what was gonna happen anyways, but figured I would give Yami a chance before I made up my mind. Bummed.

Wow... alot of funny posts in here... if we all stop buying them. The price will have to come down???? I guess the useds market is crazy high right now with no one wanting to buy a new sled anymore.. I just looked and the 2011 Apex SE is $17,800+ tax here in Canada.. hell you can buy a Kia for that..

Careful with the Kia...I think the groomer guy will frown on having to dig one of those out of his grill. On the plus side your wife could sit right next to you and tell you how fast you shouldn't go :)

Hits from the bong...the Japanese have to have some really good #*$&@ on that Island hahahaha

I was going to buy my Father a New Yamaha this year....it looks like he will be on nice left over or used one. Everyone that I talked to about it, even our dealer is not buying a 2011 Yamaha.

Looks like Arctic Cat, Polaris and Skidoo are going to have some great slaes this coming year. The only bonus is the used Yamaha's will be worth more and left overs are going to sell like crazy.

The only way that I would think about it is if while you were sitting on the seat the sled blew ya hahahaha.

Or a 2010 gm pick-up....2+4 v-6 auto $18999.00 cash price....oh and it's got P.S also

Hmmm......just out of idle curiousity I looked up the R1 LE bike online. MSRP = $14,500........why don't we hear all the biotching about that. Kinda puts the new lineup in perspective, at least for me.

I think Volkswagon and Buggati totally missed it with the Veron. I mean who in their right mind would make a car with 1001 hp, 4 turbos and filled with carbon fiber that will only go 12 minutes wide open on a tank of gas. To top it off, there is no way I can afford the 1.2 million dollar base model. How dare they even dream up a car like that?
Come on guys, you want to have a sled that is mostly perfect, you're going to have to pay for it. Can't afford it, buy something you can but don't knock the new sled you haven't even driven yet because it's out of your price range. It's like ripping on the Veyron saying it's crap because there's no cup holder. Until I can come up with a spare million and a half, I guess I'll drive a Jetta.

First the bike has much newer tech than the sled. Also its under 500 lbs. Finally you can use the bike for 6- 8 months out of the year in some places that would have the people buying the sleds.

Comparing it to a $1m car was even more ridiculous. Id say neither of these provided any perspective at all.

His point was simple:

Some are complaining about price, which is a premium. But so is the sled.

It seems people want Corvette performance and handling at a chevette price. Not going to happen with ANY product. Buy what you can afford, but don't complain when you can't. I have a V-Star 950. I want a Raider, but I can only afford a 950. But I still love to ride and do it on the best product in my opinion.

Just trying to prove my point by using the obsurd. I can't afford a top of the line Mercedes, BMW, Cadillac, Toyota or Honda either. Guess what? There are lots of people who can and are. There will be more than enough people willing to pay 15 grand for a sled. I'm not sure why so many people feel as they are entitled to be able to buy the best sled available.
Most people I know can't afford a new Corvette but that isn't the GM's fault. That's why they make the Cobalt and everything in between. If Yamaha has priced themselves out of the market you will see large rebates later on. Then everyone who is kicking and screaming today will be happier than a pig in poo when their new Apex SE is in their garage that they picked up for 11 thousand.
