18000 mi Overhaul

I sure am leaning to magnets at least causing the shrapnel pits. Found some parts of them on skid plate bolt in tunnel

Now the bad news. I ran it very hard on way back from Twin Lakes when I got separated from buddies. At one point after only getting 85mph pinned for at least 2-3mi I noticed lot of clutch noise and squealing belt. I think but cannot ever know for sure what happened first but I am missing magnets in wieghts. That’s all that’s missing but both clutches are pretty much Fubar! Will do all over using all Thunder Products. No more magnets for me!

What caused your spider to turn?

The longer I look at it i see what happened there. Bushings wore out then weights hit the spider and took magnets out.

I was wondering the same. Although I'm not that familiar with the clutches on the Yamacats, aren't there suppose to be a plastic bushing on both sides of the spider arms?

that is the same clutch as a nitro/apex. yup the sliders are toast on it. depends how deep the shrapnel pits are if it is salvageable.

Guys I went through these clutches this fall. The sliders were tight yet. Not sure what happened first.

looks like some debris from the primary got into those rollers and jammed them. bet the belt threw the debris everywhere under the hood. if the vipers take their air in a place close to where the winders do, i would check inside the air box just to be safe.
