2006 Yamaha Apex RTX
I have searched a lot about these grips and there is a lot of misinformation out there. If some one could help I would appreciate it

I have a 2006 apex RTX with grips that where changed by previous owner and I find that when I ride they get a little warm. The grips have 3 wires off them with 2 wires spliced into on and on by itself. One reads 3.2 ohms and the other reads 6.3ohms. I have heard series and parallel? Difference between 06 and 07 bars and still not hot. And reading about 06 bars with 07 harness. I’m not sure but I think I have the updated bars with no harness and just a little warm. Any suggestions on what to do or next step?

What grips do you have on the machine now? Are they full grips to the end of the hook ( possible update) or do you still have the bolt on hooks with?

they are full grips with hooks. They have 3 wires out of the grips red, blue , white. The red and blue wires are spliced together to one black wire in the sled harness, and the white wire to black in harness.

Full heated grips to the end of the hooks means that the bars have been upgraded to 07 and up bars . The heating elements are RSI elements. They can be wired Hi/Low or incremental control like the Apex has. For Hi/Low the red and blue are wired separately to a Hi/Low switch. For the Apex system of incremental adjustment the red and blue are wired together.
The grip heater circuit wires are black where they come up at the bars. Under the dash where the connections are they go from black wires to black and yellow/red. As you described your wiring of the grips this is correct. Red and blue to a black wire and white to the other black wire.
The difference between the 06 wiring and 07 and up is the 06 was wired in series and the 07 and up wired in parallel. The update or Fix for the 06 was to change them to parallel. This works. Grips get very hot. Recommended not to go past 50% setting.

So I have to make them parallel. So I would splice off the yel/red to each grip and the other side to ground ?
