That's a great result! That is the same as mine at that temperature. It looks like the ECU is the real fix.

It wouldn't have started at -30 without the update, which was the reason for it in the first place. Glad I had it done on Yamaha's dime at the time because you never know...

Had to take chaincase coover off today on recently purchesed 07 phazer and noticed it had updated ECU. When I first got it it turned over about twenty times before start, put new denso iridium plugs in and now it starts on 3rd or 4th turn. Started in about 5 turns today -10 to -15f this morning so it must work.

Yea come to think of it I drained gas tank and put fresh gas and sea foam in it when plugs were changed

I have an 09 RTX and mine sounds like the first video at 10 Deg F or colder. Mine has never not started yet, but it does not inspire confidence.
All 09's are supposed to already have the updated ECU correct?
I think I am going to invest in a battery booster after watching Yellowknife's adventures. Getting the sled off the trailer is half the adventure.

The cold start update was for 07's only so by '08, they were being outfitted with the new ECU. My son's '09 starts within a couple of revs, like the third video, in -20C. Granted it cranks slower. A good fully synthetic 0W30 oil helps.

X2. Friday night I had my sled in the truck, drove 4 hrs and it was -28c (according to truck thermometer) out. got to my destination, now -24c and it started within 5 turns.
I would look into maybe you battery has lost some of it power.

my 07 without the update seems to be starting pretty fast now.. at first i thought the prime trick did not work.. now it seems to be working.
i re prime before the pump stops and start cranking before the second prime stops
seems to fire up not too bad.

The cold start kit helped me for sure, but a good job was done by a bottle of omega injector cleener.
When i got my coldstart kit ordered from my dealer i had to wait a while, and in that time i added some injector cleener(was it 992 i wonder?)
It got bether for sure, but the cold start kit made the deal
Spark plugs had no effect on my sled on this issue.
Had some issues getting a bit harder(but not hard at all) to start this winter, and had a little higher AF values than i wanted. added some of the same stuf and one tank completed and now it has great AF values and starts great.

Phazer Update
hi folks, i just picked up a 07 MTX Phazer a month or two ago and now that the weather has become WINTER it is a bugger to get going. actually when it's this cold it won't start at all. even if i boost it and get it turning over quick, she won't fire. warm it up and no issue at all.
it only has 1300km on it. i am thinking i really need this Cold Start ECU that i keep reading about.
it was just at the shop for a oil change and some warranty recalls but the ECU one has expired of course. any options on where i can get one? i assume the MTX is different than the GT??
thanks for any help.
