I was doing some searches, and curious if any new reverse issues. I think it boils down to I have the wrong belt, as I blew a belt a few years back and since then reverse has been a struggle. Should I do a new belt, or do the shim? What is the updated belt number?

Struggle? Can you be more specific?

once in a while depending on position of sled i have to rock mine to get it to "click" in otherwise works fine.

LOL, yea I guess that would help. Basically it doesn't go in to reverse unless I get off of the sled and pull it backwards. I have 2 other sleds and they go into reverse perfectly(08 phazer, 07 venture lite). Idle is around 1600ish, have loosened the chain tensioner. As I mentioned it worked well until I blew the belt, when I say blew the belt, it just shredded the belt, and just put the belt on that came with the sled. I am thinking there was a belt number change that helped.(I suspect this one is slightly shorter, or slightly wider and dragging on the secondary)

Yes, I would try the belt first. Sorry I do not know the belt numbers off the top of my head. I can check with some manual and see if spec has changed,

Clutches backing off all the way, no belt debri stuck in there?

Check the FAQ. At least 3 threads about it. Lots of info about it.

And there is a TSB about it where there was a fix issued by Yamaha where you add a shim to the secondary and replace the belt with an updated one. If you have the wrong belt, that certainly doesn't help.
