I feel like a complete idiot. Went to make the lower tie rod arm tonight and realized there's no way to eliminate the linkage on an angled post without using unequal length tie rods.
Why does it matter if they are unequal? Yah your steering during the stroke of the suspension might not be consistent, but I would think it is small in comparison to the play that is normal in a front suspension, especially in the skis.

Looking at the Polaris design, they use a rack system, similar to the skidoo sleds... hmm Maybe it does matter?

It doesn't matter that they're unequal, I just didn't want to have to make one longer tie rod and shorten the other. Figuring out the steering arm would have been a PIA too.

Got up early and welded the bushing mount. Also cut the old the brackets off and put a coat of pant on it.

What a slow day. After trying to make a few steering arms I said screw it and cut off the stock one. Shaved it down a bunch and welded it to the post. It doesn't have quite as much swing as the stock arm, but it's good because it keeps the spindles from hitting the a-arms. I made sure to pull the shocks and cycle the suspension while steering back and forth and everything works just fine.

Wondering if I need to brace to lower arm? It seems strong enough but I can imagine it'll see some pretty heavy forces while sidehilling or countersteering.

Made the steering stop tonight. Took a little work to make sure I had the tie rods at the same angle as stock. I can turn exactly 45 degrees either way which is perfect, my spindles are about 3/8" shy of hitting the a-arms.

Not having any play in the steering is going to be awesome, it's very smooth turning it. I also have an OFT Apex block/bushing setup on the way to replace the upper plastic one. Huge thank you to Scott  The thought of running a plastic bushing horrified me, lol

Wow looks great! Yamaha is able to lay claim to less and less of that sled.

After I'm done with the steering which will drop another 2.5-3 lbs, I'll weigh it. Hoping to get it on the scale this weekend.

cool I read every one of your post and think about u weighing it after every one of your mods
got to love this sled!!

Bottom of the post is done. I added a 1/2" tube to the steering arm to help prevent any twisting. Doing the top right now and then I'm going to start on the bars.

Got the bars on. I copied the 8 degree sweep of the RSI race bars by putting one 16 degree bend in the middle. Bar position feel great and when turned all the way they don't dip down nearly as far as before. I put the controls on so I could find the mounting spots for my 1/2" braces.
