Id would be nice if you guys could stick to the original topic. I am not sure how slamming on ANY brand has anything to do with the original topic? Can anyone who has slammed either brand answer that? STAY ON TOPIC!!! or you can start a new thread!

We might just have to wait an extra year if 09 inventory is abundant. That will be 2011 before we see the new 175 hp sled. Lets hope 2010 will be the year for a new 175 hp sled.

I want a turbo
Hate to say it, but if they don't come out with a true big dog, I'm afraid I might have to jump ship. I've been waiting for a reason (and some $) to justify getting rid of my RX-1. I thought this next year would be the year. The only other option I'm considering is getting an '06 RTX (because I can get a smokin' deal on it) and checking into a turbo for it. I know someone will always be faster than you (lesson my father taught me), but I want to decrease possibilities of this. The only reason I don't like this idea now either, is because if I get the '06 now, the next season will probably have them coming out with something bigger.
I cannot imagine jumping ship, especially since I've been a loyal follower/owner since my first self-owned V-max 500 (1995.) Maybe I'm just losing it.

What do you mean it's been too long?
It's only been 15 Model Years without an improvement in Power to weight.
Stock for Stock an 09 150 HP Apex is really no faster than an 1995 Vmax4 800 with 150 HP, weights were probably similar as well. We use to radar stockers all day long at 118-120 MPH, with Srx's getting into the low 120's
Since 1995 HP has gone ballistic in things like Cars and Bikes with very little progress being made in sleds.
Bring on the Turbo's and Superchargers, it's time for an HP war!
Which come to think of it is what happened during the last major recession of the early 1990's. The Thundercat, MachZ, Breeze - Sorry Storm, and Vmax4 got people off there pocketbooks as the new models had significantly better performance.

Other than the new sled being an replacement for the Apex, my guess based on the fact that it kind of looks like the Phazer is that is going to be called the Exciter, which has been rumoured for an few years.
It will be based on the Phazer, and they will basically just add another Jug to the engine giving you an 750cc 120 HP tripple that spins at 11,000 rpm. It could sound pretty mean and should be right around 500 lbs.
The reason to use is I would guess that this engine would weigh substantially less (and take up less space) than the 973cc Vector engine, but with Gear reduction have similar HP and Torque levels.

KnappAttack said:I also predict I have a 2010 Four-Stroke Ski-Doo 1200 in my garage next year one year from now, that makes a factory 185+ HP, runs on premium fuel with a boost adder, actually weighs 90-100#'s less than the Yamaha, rides and handles good right out of the crate without overheating and burning hyfax. I think it will be a 137" long track Renegade that is black and yellow.
I hate to say it but I may be there with you. If there isn't something that really grabs me in the new line up I am ordering a 2010 MXZ-X 1200 this spring. Hopefully with some sort of forced air induction.

What do you guys think about a 2cyl 900 twin. Guys used to speculate about a high RPM engine based on the yz 450 engine. This might do well in the popular 120hp class. Think its possible?

I predict all the sleds will be over priced and sales are going to plummet.

The OSP had FX Nytro belly pans & hoods, but beyond that it was far from a FX Nytro chassis (it was all hand built tube frame, etc no original FX Nytro chassis parts). So OSP stuffing an Apex motor under the plastic of an FX Nytro is kind of meaningless. I kinda hope they stick with the Apex body type but put it on a diet and give it an extra 20-25 hp! 40-50 lbs lighter and even 15-20 hp more would be a winning combination!
