Just put a deposit down on a 2011 Apex. Pick it up tomorrow. Will post some pics when I get it home. I'm so ecstatic, let it snow....

My dealer told me not to stud it until 400-500 miles to let the trach stretch a little.

I always followed that idea but a few years ago I purchased a new track, drilled it and put the new studs in right away before I ever rode on the track. That track had about 5000 miles on it when I sold it and not a single pull out or rip. So I don't worry to much about it anymore..

Yeah I listened to that BS in 2003 & almost wrecked my brand new sled with 1/2 mile on it. Did about 5 360s on a lake with 6" of fluff......too much track spin & engine power at low RPMs doing like 15 MPH just held on & hoped sled didn't flip. Rode back to trailer & straight to dealer for STUDS. Track is going to strech so put the studs in from the get go!!

I'm not sure where this "myth" developed, but I've studded new tracks for more than a decade without any negative effects.
Now of course there are several tricks to proper studding, but that's another story.
Holy crap. I'm gonna have them stud it before I ride it. I never thought of what you just said.whitedust1 said:slimjim2525 said:My dealer told me not to stud it until 400-500 miles to let the trach stretch a little.

I am putting 171 studs in my xtx before I drive it. You won't have an issue.

Congrats!!! The sled is awesome. Stud the snot of out it and be safe. Tracks stretch regardless. Just keep tightening it as it stretches. Never a problem six new Yamaha's.
